Crazy Squirrel 0 Posted August 31, 2002 I have a Pinnacle DV500plus video editing card installed (version 4.0 drivers under WindowsXP) this and safedisc2 conflict. Safedisc detects it as a debugging system: "A debugger has been detected Unload the debugger and try again" I'm not sure what other Pinnacle Systems products safedisc doesn't like but it does prevent most games (including OFP) working. Shutting down processes&services does not help. As Flashpoint uses safedisc2 what can be done about this false positive? I have sent a support request to Pinnacle but I am not sure how to contact the people behind safedisc.

You have to contact Pinnacle or Safedisk (whoever made that).
Guest Posted August 31, 2002 From the OFP Faq: </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">OFP's CD copy protection mechanism, SAFEDISC2, runs some checks at startup to ascertain whether you are attempting to monitor its protection methods for the purpose of cracking them. If you really are running such a debugger program, then you deserve this message. However, there are other innocent Windows programs out there that can trigger a similar false positive condition. OFP player Exatheon discovered that when he terminated a Windows utility called Bomb Shelter, the message was no longer displayed and he could finally play OFP. So, if you come across this message on your PC and you're not out to outwit SAFEDISC2, check to see what Windows program or utility that you're running might be causing this error. <span id='postcolor'>
Crazy Squirrel 0 Posted August 31, 2002 Yeah read that: Processes: Explorer, svchost, svchost, lsass, services, winlogon, csrss, smss, system, [system idle] Services: Windows Audio, Terminal Services, Telephonary, Security accounts manager, remote procedure call (rpc), remote access connection manager, plug and play, network connections, help and support, event log, error reporting services, distributed link tracking client, dhcp client, cryptographic services, com+ event system Is the minimum state I can get the PC too, XP refuses/can't shut down the above (they are all normal core XP processes/services). I've even tried a hardware profile with the two core pinnacle devices disabled via device manager and safedisc still complains. If I disable the third (its firewire controller) winXP gets a STOP error on boot up....
Mister Frag 0 Posted August 31, 2002 You can try the utility at this location: http://www.macrovision.com/solutions/software/fix.php3 There's no guarrantee that this will fix the problem, but it is an update to the SafeDisc driver, so who knows.

PuG 0 Posted September 1, 2002 I have a similiar problem, *Unload the Debugger and try again*. Now this is a reoccuring problem which can only be fixed for a short period after a reformat. I am running Windows XP Pro. Thanks
Crazy Squirrel 0 Posted September 1, 2002 Do u have a Pinnacle Systems card or any other type of video/tv editing/viewing card PuG? Have you tried shutting the programs/processes? I know of one other person (so far) with a DV500 & XP and the same problem as me with safedisc games.
bn880 5 Posted September 1, 2002 You really should consider contacting Pinnacle Systems or Safedisk. Formally tell them they have a problem. "houston we have a problem" kind of thing. If either are a well operating company, they may get you a workaround withing a few days or weeks. This is mainly a Safedisk concern though, since obviosuly Pinnacle Systems software is not a debugger. I think one of your windows .dll's was changed. Or something else in windows. You could try reinstalling (restoring) your windows after removing the Pinnacle Software completely.
Crazy Squirrel 0 Posted December 27, 2002 Thought I'd reply to this topic to say that its solved Pinnacle told me (in november) that they found safedisc has incompatibles with video editing systems which they need macrovision to work with them on. Macrovision never got back to me personally. Anyway 1.90 patch (from 1.75) makes the problem vanish so everything is cool Though I still need to do a manual install (copy all) of the Gold Upgrade CD which 'detects a debugger' on initiating install - nadda problem though - something for the faqs though maybe. Was the 1.75->1.90 safedisc stuff changed so it doesn't check or did macrovision actually issue an update which doesn't pick up false positives? If the latter then hopefully other safedisc games will get it soon too.
