Editor's Preview Hanging

Recommended Posts

After the update (coincidence?) I've been having issues when trying to preview my mission when editing. Sometimes when previewing the loading screen's progress bar will get to the completed point but the screen just hangs and I have to close Arma's process and restart the editor. It'll then reload the saved mission but I can't preview unless I make edits i.e. remove items until I can preview the mission again.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled ArmA, deleted the CFG file, removed the custom start up parameters, removed scripts, and I've also tried missions from scratch, but to no avail. It's really frustrating :/

Can anyone tell me what could be causing this? because I'm on the verge of totally reformatting the drive. I've got a 120 Gig SSD drive, and I'm wondering if it maybe dying :/

Cheers

Ian

Hello,

take care that in your mission you have selected one unit as "player"

just "playable" is not working. i have tested in editor.

Done an integrity test on the SSD drive which gave reported it as being healthy, so with no constructive replies to remedy this problem I've gone ahead and formatted the SSD drive. I'm yet to reinstall ArmA as Windows 7 takes forever and a day to update, patch and re-patch and patch again.

Formatting my HDD didn't resolve this issue, although I now know what was causing the problem - I had added too many units (144 maximum allowed), so the editor was locking up when previewing as the site modules were way exceeding the unit limit. I've resolved the issue by reducing the amount of units I placed in the mission.

Just so you know, never full format a SSD. Just rewrite or erase the MFT, which is what a quick format does, but never do a full format though. Even just deleting a partition and then remaking one should be enough.

Yeah, I would only fully format if I would want to erase the data. By selecting a basic format the memory merely becomes available to be overwritten oppose to overwriting the data itself.
