shooting a moving tank

Recommended Posts

I do not debate with you, i try to explain why you are wrong. But let's try another approach. What are your shooting skills with non-guided AT weapons? Not ingame, i mean real life.

I've shot 2 rounds with live ammo with the BL-83, 24 training rockets (genuine propulsion, fake warhead) and countless tracer training rounds (same speed/trajectory/ballistics as original rocket but much cheaper for training purpose). With the Panzerfaust 3 i've shot 1 live ammo and 17 training rockets. Roughly 2/3 of these shots were taken on moving targets. My hitrate was around 83% which was about average in my platoon.

So, up to you. Please sum up your experience.

P.S.

Forgot to add 12 battlefield illumination rounds with the BL-83 which was really cool. We were standing in 1.5m deep snow but after the first shot, due to the backblast the area around me was cleared from any snow for about 3-4m.

Wow! One kid (sorry but anyone who uses words like Superior, elite, Pro, skill,....., in theyr nickname cannot be an adult, unless he is some really sad case.) makes a braging post and here we have dickwaving contest.

Give the kid a break. He obviously wants attention and wants others to thing that he is supercool. All kids want that. Its normal.

Back to topic: @Greeves, i saw your video. 900meters 2 shots, nicely done. I tried it on 600metres. took me 5 shots before i hit the tank. Gues i suck in rocket shooting. The tank was stationary btw.

If your rockets are hitting to the side of the target, there's a very subtle effect I've noticed. When you're aiming at a very distant target, the sway from your breathing moves the optic just slightly and it can throw off your aim. At close range it doesn't really matter much, but it can seriously mess up long range shots like the ones we're talking about. It's kind of hard for me to explain, but watching the video will help. Notice how on the first shot I was swaying back and forth just a tiny bit while looking down the optic. I waited until, for a split second, it stopped swaying and was lined up with the target. That's when you take the shot.

In regards to getting your range correct, you really just have to get a feel for the weapon if you're shooting anything past 800m or so. Under that, the range adjustment and optic range marks work just fine. I always fire a 9 mil spotting rifle round whenever possible. I love the SMAW because of the spotting rifle -- it allows you to guarantee first-round hit probability. Keep in mind that it can alert AI if they hear or see the spotting round. It can also kill people, so it's really epic when someone surprises you while you're using the SMAW and you nail them with the spotting rifle. :D
