Birkoff 0 Posted January 1, 2002 Great to have a ingame editor but what could be very usefull for mission makers is an option to invite others to join the editing party, that is the one that hosts the session can enable/disable editing option for each member of the party. 1) X persons can edit the map , all at once if needed 2) host can enable/disable editing option for each member of the party, in 3 steps, either allow editing fully or just allow move/point and type tekst in the map(that is gone when compiled/saved) or 3 just to watch. 3) At the same time VOICE and text chat should be an available option Anyone else that would like this option ? CanisDEK 1 Posted January 1, 2002 Well not really. When I make missions every little detail is there for a reason. The bases, vehicles, flags etc. are placed at certain positions for a reason. Your idea might be ok for those short 30mins games where action is more important than strategy/planning. Including the option would do no harm to me... I just wouldn't use it. I have never used the wizards at all. The missions I make have a duration of 2+ hours... if I want quick action i play DFLW or Tribes2.
rekrul 7 Posted January 1, 2002 It's not something you can code in 5 mins, so I would rather BIS made bugfixes and new stuff. -Rekrul
Mister Frag 0 Posted January 1, 2002 I think that this would be such a rarely used option that it wouldn't be worth the significant amount of work it requires. If you wanted to have collaborative editing today, you could use standard Windows tools, such as Remote Desktop and NetMeeting. You could control the editor remotely, do whiteboarding, and use both voice and text chat. I also think that unless everyone participating in the editing session was competent and unbiased, you'd have some guys stash a couple of tanks in one area of the map just so they can wipe out the opposing team. But I agree with CanisDEK, while I wouldn't use such a feature myself, I'm not saying don't ask for it to be considered as a future enhancement.
Birkoff 0 Posted January 2, 2002 Well if any other application would solve the problem I would be happy but from a couple I've tested they wouldn't even show up OFp, just a empty frame of the game (run in window mode). If anyone got a clue about which program that is verified to work so everyone can watch the host do the mapping I'm open for suggestions Regarding bugs, yeah I agree BIS should make them a huge priority but not forget that we do need stuff like new islands and vehicles to keep the game fun and by that continue to support the game. Releasing a editor to allow us make own islands/textures etc would of course be even better :-)
Mister Frag 0 Posted January 2, 2002 If you are having problems getting OFP to work with a remote-control application because of the DirectX/DirectDraw full-screen video mode, you may want to try running it in a window instead -- add the following to your OFP command-line: -window -x=800 -y=
