how to aim spotlight in helicopters

Recommended Posts

So I read the ARMA2 manual... went over all the in-game controls, spent several days searching Google, searched these forums, and still for the life of me cannot figure out HOW TO AIM THE SPOTLIGHT in a helicopter? I've seen COUNTLESS youtube videos of people doing this, yet I can't figure out how? I've figured out that you can turn the lights ON by pushing "L", a spotlight turns on aiming at the ground below my helicopter, but I can't figure out how to aim it? Can anyone explain how to aim the spotlight in a helicopter while you're flying it?? Thanks.

I think it's not possible, for two reasons: first, fly the helicopter and aim the searchlight at the same time would be hard, and second, i think there are not so much keys in the keyboard.

But maybe I'm wrong.

Not possible by design, but I've always hoped that someone smarter than I would mod it.

I was imagining something along the lines of attaching an invisible spotlight object (or maybe just the emitter - I really don't know how any of this stuff works in Arma) to the helo that is somehow controllable using the arrow keys or similar. Is this even theoretically possible?

but if it's impossible, then how did this guy do it?

- in this video, you can clearly see the spotlight being aimed at around 11:11

I know that citylife rpg is a mod for arma2, but did they have to mod the helicopter to be able to do this?

The helicopter is custom.

Yes I believe such a thing can be done with scripts.
