thenach 10 Posted August 15, 2013 (edited) Hi, Is possible that now the AH-99 "Blackfoot" has the seat inverted?!?!?! The pilot goes in the front seat?? and the gunner in the back? If this is correct, I'm pretty sure is not, then you need to correct the cockpits because the back seat has the collective.... and now is suppose to be the gunner. It seem one of this fixes.. created the problem: Crew of AH-99 is now trained to get in proper seats Fix: Pilot of AH-99 can get back in after having disembarked Edited August 15, 2013 by theNaCH
purepassion 22 Posted August 15, 2013 This is actually how it was typically operated :)
Beagle 684 Posted August 15, 2013 Since the AH-99 is basically a RAH-66 the right place for the gunner would be in the backseat and Pilot in the front seat. That's how it was supposed to work. It's exactly opposite to an Apache and more like in double seater jetplanes. The reason is that contrary to the Apache the backseat in the AH-99 is not elevated and does not have any good vision. thenach 10 Posted August 16, 2013 Thanks Beagle and PurePassion for the feedback. I was the wrong, In the ticketing/issue tracker tool it was presented as evidence that RAH-66 schematics showing that the front seat is the pilot and the back WSO. Sounds crazy to me... have the pilot so far away from the CG . I guess some Engineer/tactial did the work and got into the conclusion that this is better. Regarding seat elevation, well if you look a the viper and the old cobra... the seat I think is in the same configuration as the RAH-66.
