Should we be killed so quickly if a helicopter lands in the water?

I'm not talking about a crash. I just lower the chopper in the water and just get killed while not even getting the option to get out. Maybe since the blades are still be spinning but I should at least get the option to get out.

So I thought this was a fun experiment: Why not spawn an invisible boat right under the chopper when you touch the water, and let physX do the rest?

That's basically what I've done here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=170117939

Please test it, and see if you "feel" the difference.

Note: It doesnt work with small choppers (due to the skids) and it might have a bit too much friction when you touch the water. It's just a proof of principle tho :) It's only 20 lines of code!
