Shockley 3 Posted August 15, 2013 (edited) Just wanted to pose a few questions and maybe get some insight from the more knowledgeable terrain developers out there, I've been a bit frustrated trying to figure some things out over the course of this week. I think I've read/completed pretty much every tutorial I could find and spent a ton of time on Bushlurker's website trying narrow down fixes for this problem. The custom terrain works great if the sat and mask are 2048x2048 as the should with lower resolution, when I switch to my high resolution 20480x20480 version it starts acting goofy. Not sure if it's because of the current tools or am I overlooking something. When I load the 20480x20480 resolution version into the editor and preview it actually take 10m 41s to load into the terrain which obviously isn't normal. Also I have some odd lines and ghosting over my satellite image in game but disappear when zoomed in, which usually indicates a wrong parameter set somewhere in the project parameters. I've tried the usual troubleshooting through .rpt and BinPBO log files with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. http://files.enjin.com/162250/shockley/editorload_terrain.jpg http://files.enjin.com/162250/shockley/sat_line.jpg http://files.enjin.com/162250/shockley/lines_ghosting.jpg So I'll give you as much detail as possible, and hopefully I'm not losing my mind or maybe I just overlooked something. Sealife 22 Posted August 15, 2013 Looking at .rpt it seems you have packed the a3 files with your terrain and thus overwritten the whole of arma 3 You dont put a3 files in your project folder if your not using a namespace I.e P: \x\ my terrain Remove a3 folder from your tereain folder and leave on the p: drive and repack
Shockley 3 Posted August 15, 2013 (edited) A3_2P.ReadMe.htm P:\WRP_PROJECTS_A3 Due to an astonishing oversight in BinPbo you need a copy of A3 configs in each and every island project you create. Windows Vista and beyond make this 'problem' relatively simply by using MKLINK. WinXP does not have such a feature. WRP_PROJECTS contains the necessary files (and only the necessary files) you need to copy. Didn't see it noted as use only when providing a namespace, might go that route anyways. Ill try a fresh reinstall of A3 , tools 2.5.1 and a3_2p and give it one more go. Edited August 16, 2013 by Sig [USMC]
Shockley 3 Posted August 16, 2013 Fresh reinstall and changing my file structure to include a namespace seems to fix everything except the sat clipping and ghosting, any ideas?
PepinKr 3 Posted August 16, 2013 i had sat clipping with my terrain as well, i tried a satellite grid of 96 and satellite segment of 48 and it fixed it. (terrain size : 20480x20480)
