The expansion of the boundaries of the map

Recommended Posts

Good time of day. I would like to know whether you can by creating a map 20km-on-20km in the future, as the presence of free PC performance, increase the size of the map before 50km-on-50 km and then up to 100km-on-50km?

Enough of the performance of my PC (INTEL Coreâ„¢ i7 4770/32Gb DDR3 1600 MHz/GeForce GTX 770 4GB/SSD 180GB INTEL) to create and play on ultra settings on the map 100km-on-50km that the map will be 2 towns, 2 large plant, 30 villages, 60% of the map will be a dense forest, river and reservoir and a lot of small rivers and lakes?

P.S.: What is the length and width of the map with the island of Altis, but I can't find?

Google translator has struck again :)

I do not recommend building maps bigger than 20x20km for the following reasons:

- 60% trees will cause performance issues. On an example A3 map 20x20km, I had 20% forest and the frames already were dropping. Your machine may be strong but is not sufficient for the plans you have..

- a detailed 20x20km Satmap is already giving image-editing programs a hard time when it comes to manipulating (for me at least). A satmap double that size is possible, but with less detail I guess. Maybe some others were more lucky?

ZeroG, is it possible in the future expansion of the borders of cards with 20km to 20km to 50km 50km, for example, in 4-5 years when my PC will be several times more powerful, I can map 20km on 20km expand up to 50km 50km not recreating?

Google translator has struck again :)

Almost. I thought translate yandex better ;)

I guess so - if ArmA 3 is the last game of the series..

But PC in 5 years will be stronger. I will ask the question differently: If I create a map of 1x1 km I can extend up to 10 x 10 km? Or should immediately create a 10x10 km?

What you can do is create a 1kmx1km map. Then like you said move it to a 2kmx2km map and so forth. Yes you are correct.

Like zero said its best to start small learn the basics then advance further.

Ah - now I get it. I guess it could be possible, though I see the problem of object importing.

Imagine a house placed in the middle of the 1kmx1km map: it will have the coords 512,512,0 (x,y,z).

Now, if you expand that map area to 10x10km and import objects, the house will not be in the middle of the map anymore (where its supposed to be, as you expand around the middle) but will be somewhere in the lower left part of the map.

Regarding satellite mask however, it wouldnt be too hard...

ZeroG, That is, as I understand expansion card, all the objects standing on it will ÑбиватÑÑ in the corner of the card?

Assuming that "ÑбиватÑÑ" means something along the lines of "appear", yes that's what ZeroG saying.

ЕÑли предположить, что "ÑбиватÑÑ" означает что-то вдоль линий "поÑвлÑÑŽÑ‚ÑÑ", да вот что ZeroG говорÑ.

That is, as I understand expansion card, all the objects standing on it will gather in the corner of the card?
