Why are threads about poor performance on high end hardware all being closed?

Recommended Posts

I still have severe performance issues, 90 FPS+ with no AI on an empty map, and 60-70% CPU ~60% GPU, drops to less than 30 FPS with less than 30% load CPU/GPU with presence of 40 AI. I see ~27 FPS on the helicopter demo, and minimal resource usage. This is still a serious issue, there are no problems with my computer whatsoever, and BI games are the only ones which exhibit this behavior, Arma III being the worst by far.

My specs:

i7-2600K @ 4.4 GHz

16 GB DDR3 1600 MHz

MSI GTX680 4GB @ 1202 MHz boost clock (the game does not provide enough load to ever see this boost clock though, usually peaks at 1175).

CPU and GPU tend to stay under 50 C, and I am air cooled (so that should tell you something about resource utilization/load as well)

Why have all of the threads been closed with no updates when we are told not to have discussions in the feedback tracker? Is anything to be done about this? Will any dev actually speak specifically to this issue? I cannot say it makes me comfortable seeing the way this issue has been responded to on the forums by BI staff.

Thank you for adding constructively to the conversation. I have a legitimate concern with the game and the response to this issue on these official forums. I don't see how that is worthy of a lock unless everyone starts flaming. I am not trying to incite or imply anything with this thread, I am genuinely curious as to if there is a specific reason that the Alpha users are being left in the dark on performance issues. I paid for an early copy of this game so I could contribute to its development in some small way, but if this is the reception to concerns (regarding forum users and flaming, not BI in this instance), then I do not have high hopes for the final product. I support you BI, and I own most of your products, and that's why I feel the need to ask these questions. I still enjoy the game, and still play it, I'd just like to know it will utilize my hardware better. If this is unreasonable, or somehow not the place for this discussion, please point me in the right direction.

Exactly, you paid for a copy of a game that is not released yet (known as preordering).

What you are using now is an Alpha which you were given access to as a BONUS for preordering.

It is not necessarily representative of the finished product (and please don't start referencing OFP, A1 or A2 - This is A3 - so let them release it before you spit your dummy).

I'm not going to bother commenting further as it has all been repeated over and over again and it falls on the deaf ears of those who simply want to attack the developers and other users who don't agree with them.

Now, that clearly is not you, but you asked why the other threads were being closed, and that is why.

Please read those closed threads. Actually we would like to keep such a thread open but obviously every thread about performance turned into a flamewar sooner or later. From what i know, there is already a improvement of performance between both branches. One might see this as a sign that the deveolpers are actually working on it. The Devs are aware of it. They read the forums, they read the bugtracker. Those things aren't done in a few minutes with a few minor changes in the code.

So no offence against you but i will close this thread. Not because you aren't allowed to state your opinion or point out issues with the game, but because we know from experience where this leads. It is alpha, Devs are working on it. Points are heard and taken srious. Nothing more to say at this moment.
