thr0tt 12 Posted May 24, 2013 Last couple of dev releases I have got a massive slowdown in MP after around 1 hour. When I got it I though it could be something heating up, usage etc. But after checking all temps there was nothing out of the ordinary... if I exit the server and rejoin or join another the problem still persist, if, however I exit the game and start again and join the same server same slot its all fine again ! Any ideas ?
thr0tt 12 Posted May 25, 2013 OK tried again, and when I got the issue I changed all the settings in game to lowest and it made no difference. Game was showing using 1.18gb of ram, menus and salt tabbing out ran smoothly just the game itself you look around with the mouse and its around 5fps, 16fps looking at the ground whereas I'm getting 30-40 standard before this issue occurs. Anyone else getting this, is it ATI / AMD issue ?
ZoneTrooper 10 Posted May 26, 2013 (edited) Yep i have the same problem, but i use a different System.Core i7-860 with 2,8GHz 8GB DDR-3 1600 MHZ and the fastest GTX 680 on the Market with 4GB video Ram running ARMA 3 on 1920 2AA AF Ultra Rest Very High to Ultra and i get HUGE FPS drops on some servers, but when i start a mission in the Editor it runs ok.Also the most Power Hungry Setting in Arma 3 is the View range and Object setting,as higher you put the setting for Objects and draw distance so lower the FPS gets.In some cases on MP servers i even drop down to 12 FPS oO and that is insane,i mean a GTX 680 with 4GB video Ram and 12FPS this cant be.I realy realy hope that there will be Alot of Performance improvements for Arma 3.Also i noticed that you get FPS drops if you look right in the center of the map,but if you look towards the sea you get better FPS.Also when you are in bigger villages near the water or the airport, you get seriously FPS drops but when you drive on the regular roads on the map the FPS is ok. I recommend to set the overall and object view range something about 2900 to 1900 thats the best setting for me so far,if i increas the view distance the FPS drops are HUGE running around with 20 FPS,its just not possible then to react if you are under fire because it runs pretty slow. And yes it makes nearly no difference to change the visual settings like terrain and stuff like that, cause the view range is the most power hungry setting in ARMA 3 Edited May 26, 2013 by ZoneTrooper
