bogart 10 Posted May 7, 2013 (edited) Hi, I've tried many weapon dispersion mods and my favourite is and remains the RUG_High Dispersion 1.5 both for shouldered and vehicles weapons because it's approximately near the reality and it makes arma 2 more realistic and finally you will need ammo support. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=9442 In my opinion in the real world if you shoot with an M4 at 400/500 meters away the bullet won't hit exactly the point you aimed at and this video shows exactly what I mean now the main mod problem is that it adds a module that convert every default weapon to High dispersion, also the sound will return to ArmA 2 default and if you have loaded COWarMod like me or other stuffs you have to pray that it doesn't interfere with them. I'm looking for someone who could help me to have the same results but without these issues, in COWarMod is already precharged asr ai which has in the userconfig a variable for the ai accuracy but this doesn't modify the player accuracy and i'm not sure that this will do the trick... I hope to hear from you soon thanks Matt Edited May 8, 2013 by Bogart
Gunter Severloh 4087 Posted May 8, 2013 Hi again Bogart, You should also explain the issue you are having and what you have done in terms of trying to fix it, like for example you want to run it with Sound of anders mod but you get an error I think you said. For the point that an m4 trying to be accurate at about 4/500 meters to me at least i think the game does it right, at 500meters which is very far, trying to be accurate is well almost not possible, i cant really say but again the gun i believe is designed for 2-300 meters and maybe up to 400meters at most. At this point you might as well use a sniper rifle if you want accuracy. The real concern as you were asking about through pm was how do you make the player and AI have more dispersion. Personally having more dispersion for the player for me at least makes that game frustrating, I aim to kill, not shoot half a clip at a guy 200m or more away and hope i hit him and kill him, on the other hand if enemy Ai were doing it I would be fine with it to a point, all depends, of course this is for you personally so, like i was saying in the pm I suggest implementing a script that would make the AI and player fi you want that have more dispersion which could be adjustable. As for ASR AI you could ask Rob about his mod in terms of a way to have a dispersion. Just my thoughts.
bogart 10 Posted May 9, 2013 (edited) Hi Gunter, I really appreciate your help :) I've submitted the problem to Bigpickle and he told me how to do it, it's a long work but I'm happy because I can finally say that it works! :) For the point that an m4 trying to be accurate at about 4/500 meters to me at least i think the game does it right, at 500meters which is very far, trying to be accurate is well almost not possible, i cant really say but again the gun i believe is designed for 2-300 meters and maybe up to 400meters at most. At this point you might as well use a sniper rifle if you want accuracy. The effective range of an M4 is 400/500 meters while an M16 achieves 800meters obviously at 500 meters and 800 meters they won't be so accurate as 200 and I think RUG_HD does the right thing. Eg: if you try to fire a Minimi, rounds won't reach the same point but they will spread out in all directions due to recoil, instability, wind, loss of kinetic energy and many other factors. If the real weapons had been like ArmA II without RUG_HD, I think it would have been too simple (if you see the flash it's too late) haha Thanks Matt Edited May 9, 2013 by Bogart
