it looks good to me , and i like the mmorpg's (although i haven't played them much except a crappy free one called "the fourth coming" .. was really good for what is cost me , it was like ultima online , the same isometric 3d graphisms etc ...)

I like them too. I used to play Ultima Online but i quit cause it gets annoying to have to pay 10 bucks a month.

10 euros a month

27 euros for 3 months

50 euros for 6 months

it's affordable ...

each servers can have 3500 people connected simultaneously

the recommended settings are :

PIII 1ghz

256mb RAM or higher

32mb 3D accelerated video card

and i have more than that

the graphisms look cool and remind me ofp in some ways

"the 4th coming" is almost like ultima online , but it's free , totally free , it's maybe a little bit less deep than ultiůa online , but it's till good

look here if you are interested

it's a bit limited : 250 people by server generally , but it's still enough

a full list of features for t4c if you are interested :

Features

Over 200 users can play simultaneously on well-configured servers and networks.

Over 200 unique NPCs, 100 different monsters, half a dozen large cities, 1000 objects, more than 150 quests, and 25 gigantic caves and dungeons

Game masters designated by the server licensee can take the form of NPCs to animate and personalize each game

Hundreds of spells, skills and items

T4C is more action-oriented than most adventure games of its genre, making it easier for less experienced players to enjoy the game as well as the hardcore gamer

The 4th coming's (T4C's) sheer magnitude and intricacy will keep even the most dedicated players continuously occupied and challenged

Low client (player) hardware requirements help make the game accessible to a broader audience.

Social engine provides real-time conversations with players wherever they are in the game; talk directly onscreen or in a dedicated chat window (allowing for backscrolling)

Persistent world - events continue to take place even when you're not playing

No gaming network platforms required - "The 4th Coming" is a stand-alone product

Direct-X 32bit client runs under Windows 95/98

Unlimited number of character and player records in database

Exclusive original music soundtrack and sound effects

it also includes a "religion" system , progressive quests and a good communauty , and the most important : it's almost always free (depends of the distrbutor , i downloaded it for free and i was ready to play in less than one hours)

but go back to the original topic , should i buy DAOC an pay for it monthly ?

My 2 cents....

DAoC stole my life for the last year tounge.gif  I'd played nothing but military games before a friend got me hooked on the rpg thing (which I always swore I'd never come near, and constantly made fun of him for playing smile.gif

I don't think it was the fun factor that got me hooked.  It's the fact that these companies produce a game where you pay THEM monthly to work your ass off.  I think maybe 40 to 50% of the time I had fun, but most of the time you just pay to work.  They just get you addicted to wanting to make 'progress' in a never ending cycle.

As far as the particular game DAoC... they add a slight twist to the rpg thing- the Realm vs. Realm.  You go take a keep, the enemy takes it back, you go take it, they take it back....  The PvP thing is interesting at first, but quickly becomes boring.

I cancelled my account and have had nothing but Resistance on my screen since smile.gif

I wouldn't advise wasting your time.

Did I mention there aren't any guns?!

If I ever make an rpg I will put all those faires, wolves, wizards, warriers, and shit in but I will make the player have modern weapons like M-16's, glocks, and what have you. Then you can go around immune to all that magic and just shoot them. Id imagine that might get boring after a while but I'd buy that game if I saw it at the store. One rpg game I am looking forward too is that Star Wars Galxies : An Empire Divided, it looks like its gonna be a hit.
