ILL_NODERUS 10 Posted April 23, 2013 (edited) Hello everybody, I recently built a rig to get back into the PC world and have come across what seems to be this gem of a development. As I have yet to download ARMA I was wondering if: A. How is the overall worth of the gameplay value given where it is at in development? (Think ranging from Your finest hour to bugs and glitches) B. How is the in game community, team play, and VOIP communications? C. How would this game run on my specs? - AMD FX 6100-oc-4.1GHz - EVGA Nvidia GTX 560-oc - ASUS M5 A97 LE R2.0 Motherboard - ATX 530W Power Supply - Cooler Master Hyper 212 CPU cooler - GSKILL RIPJAWS 16GB RAM - Seagate 500GB HDD - Windows 8 Pro I admire and anticipate this game immensely, hope to play the Alpha soon. Thank You All! -Sam Edited April 23, 2013 by ILL_NODERUS typos
nodunit 397 Posted April 23, 2013 That depends, how do you value worth? If you have played Arma 2 I would say that Arma 3 is ahead in some ways, the current focus being on infantry means it doesn't have armor or many air vehicles and the current ones are rather simplistic. It is constantly going through changes in the development version some good some bad. For example a recent patch changed the lighting and had a backfiring effect of damaging night effects. Most people are likely to tell you the game is best played in private servers. Online play in general is a bit of a gamble currently..and VOIP differs, most often people will ask for TS3, Trillian, Mumble or Ventrilo. The only things we really need to know about your system specs and running the game are ram, cpu, gpu and motherboard (in case it is incompatible to your components, cooling and so on doesn't matter so much) That said your specs look good and I can give you an alpha lite invite (mind you this will NOT have MP and mightnot have dev builds updates later) to test it yourself. PN11A 2 Posted April 23, 2013 It doesnt matter if the game is full version or alpha. Arma will have glitches, Arma will Lag. If you can get past those two bits you will enjoy this game. It is completely free form and you can shape it any way you like when you start getting into the Arma units expect to have to go through some sort of basic training accurate or not and be prepared because everyone in arma is a former Navy SEAL. Also if your coming from game console online play the pc game community has alot more drama and hurt feelings than console gaming.

Richie 330 Posted April 23, 2013 I'll add my 2 cents :) 1- Exellent but it does have bugs, random lag being the most annoying but it's been reported and will be fixed. I've played every day since buying the game and i'm still loving it. 2- The ArmA series has an exellent folowing, The game stands out due to it's modding community with new addons released daily. Find the right server and you'll be amazed just how well people can play together :) 3- Your PC is better than mine :( I'm fairly happy with performance so no reason you won't be. PN11A 2 Posted April 23, 2013 Says someone who's never played any console shooter online, ever. Socom 1,2,3,ca,sc,s4, mw1, mw2, cod bo, halo 1, halo 2 Console gaming community is not as small as the Arma Community, Ive been in 2 units in ARMA and everyone knows everyone. These units can vet players in arma, they cant do that in console gaming.
