Tomsz 1 Posted April 19, 2013 Hey when you join a server, if they are using a Mod it will not let you join unless you have that specific Mod, Now what I am suggesting is that when you join a server if that server has a mod/s requirement then it should automatically download the mods while joining, just like in CoD..Now don't say well this isn't CoD because that does not mean we shouldn't have a system similar to that of joining a server and having a option to set it to auto download the mod/requirements, Due to this reason no servers use Mods, Now if it was to auto download the required Mods upon entering the server we would have a lot more servers running these awesome Mods people have spent their time making, I think this needs to be brough to BIS' attention immediately if not confirmed, thanks. chortles 263 Posted April 19, 2013 I'm not aware of any official BI position on this, although they promote the PlayWithSIX utility/launcher which does implement a bunch of what you're calling for. Take a look here!
toiletguy 1 Posted April 19, 2013 but most of the mods are larger than 10 upto 1000 mb which would be too large perhaps?
Maio 293 Posted April 19, 2013 but most of the mods are larger than 10 upto 1000 mb which would be too large perhaps? Yes. Plus download speeds also vary based on the physical location of the server and client, bandwidth, etc. That's not such a friendly mix.

chortles 263 Posted April 19, 2013 ... because CoD servers at last check don't work anything like Arma servers? The whole point of me mentioning PlayWithSIX -- and come to think of it, BI outright promoting them -- is that they basically do what you're asking for, albeit as a third-party launcher/updater/downloader, and its existence basically saves BI from having to do the work to make it built-in. This is an important, as "saving us from having to do the work to make it built-in" was basically the key development reason given in the Steamworks announcement...
