bigshot 64 Posted March 13, 2013 Compare Stratis to Utes, if you're "not impressed by it".People forgot there's Altis on the horizon, with 270 sq. km landmass & 700-900 sq. km map. (Inc sea) nope, haven't forgotten about Altis and im well aware that Stratis is considerably larger than Utes...but size isn't everything and chernarus is a perfect example of a large map with very little diversity. The entire map of Chernarus is all countryside, with the exception of Chernogorsk which is basically an industrial park layed out in the countryside. Sahrani was Bohemia's best map making effort as far as diversity and dynamic mission making is concerned. While Chernarus and Stratis are more realistic and truer to life to look at they simply don't offer as much vision or diversity for mission ideas. I'm hoping Altis will change this trend and offer more of the diversity found in Sahrani (plus some surprises like streams, rivers, lakes and other details). Iroquois Pliskin 0 Posted March 13, 2013 (edited) Agreed on Sahrani. Do check out the topographical map of Altis - reminds me of Sahrani rotated 90 degrees to the right: Western half of the island is similar to Paraiso-Cayo area, while the middle chokepoint is Corazol. :D Sahrani: http://community.bistudio.com/wikidata/images/d/d1/ArmA_Sahrani_Map_Large.jpg Altis semi-topo: http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/087/0/3/arma_3_limnos_story_map_by_arma3-d4u3yb0.jpg Great topo/road network map of RL Altis: http://www.recko.name/obrazy/mapy/map_limnos.jpg Diving operations will become VERY viable on Altis, atm we're currently limited to either West or East coasts of Stratis, covering only Airfield, Camp Tempest, Girna, and from the other side Kill Farm & Kamino base. ProfTournesol 956 Posted March 13, 2013 Well, as they are based on real datas as Tchernarus was, they won't look as a fantasy Disney island.

marcushague 1 Posted March 13, 2013 i imagine that it will be another map to use, what would rock is having them both together on 1 mapo..... so you get in a chopper and fly to stratis from the main island....

I must admit to prefer realistic terrain over fictive terrain. Not realistic in the sense that it must be a *real* place, but a place that could exist in RL. Cherna, Takistan and now Altis are good examples, and no matter how much I enjoyed Sahrani it always bothered me to have part Gran Canaria and part Czech Rep. in one island in the Atlantic ocean. It has no place in reality, and sort of destroyed immersion for my part. But it was a good, beautiful map nonetheless, just not good for a serious mil-sim with the real world as backdrop.
