hammer1966 0 Posted July 14, 2002 You guys/gals are my last hope. let me just go through how i download/use addons and see if i am doing anything wrong. 1. i choose and download the desired addon. 2. i save it to disk, it is downloaded onto desktop, or the addon folder(both havent worked) 3. Though it is downloaded as a zip file, it has a windows word symbol as its icon, not the folder with the zip on it. you do not have the option to extract the pbo files, there don't appear to be any. All i can do with the download is open it into win word. once in win word it is just pages and pages of what appear to be jibberish. 4. Once i have dragged the downloaded file into the addon folder, i still can't find all my cool new vehicles e.t.c., and yes i have tried every possible place where they could be on the editor. 5. I am gutted that i can't have any cool stuff on my ofp game editor and attempt suicide. i must be doing something wrong or there is a problem with the way the files are downloading. could someone please give a step by step tutorial of i how i download these bloody addons. PPPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSWEEE!!!!
Eviscerator 0 Posted July 14, 2002 im guessing youve somehow made .zip files open with word, you must have used the annoying 'open with...' feature on windows, i know theres a way to unnassociate them but i cant remember, they wont work as if i understand correctly you are trying to put zips into the addons folder which the game wont read.... euly 0 Posted July 14, 2002 It sounds like your system doesn't know what program to use to open files with a .zip extension, so if you're running under windows 95/98/me etc... make sure you have winzip, winace or winrar. Windows XP has a built in feature for zipped files. Once you get the zip open, you should extract the .pbo files right to the addons folder in the ofp directory. edc 0 Posted July 14, 2002 You can go to Folder Options under the Tools menu and click on File Types to change what the computer will open them with. Also I have Windows ME and it can open zip files.
