I'm not even a huge Military Simulator fan, and only got A2 because of DayZ (I know I should be ashamed)... but A3 is REALLY impressive even in alpha. I was really happy to see you could drown and die w/o scuba gear, Sad that you can't get the bends yet. BUT the most important thing for me is the increase in quality and immersion, I've NEVER felt more "in game" than I did today... The graphics are stunning, the mechanics and body positioning is GREAT.... inventory system has my head spinning... As does shooting every time I mean to select something (never used the spacebar for anything in Arma or DayZ before) and G being Grenade i/o gear is just a little surprising lol... LOVE LOVE LOVE it so far, it's almost killed DayZ for me now with how much better the graphics are.... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
cifordayzserver 119 Posted March 6, 2013 Not sure exactly how to convey how powerful the feeling I've had is, and I'm not sure if it's virtue of the Engine running better so my GFX card can do it's best, or if it's the result of all the minor tweaks or what... but the game play, and showcases are just MIND BLOWING realistic and fluid... There are for sure some kinks to be worked out in ragdoll and the physics of driving/flying/collision (flying especially IMO (I found the helicopters to be VERY twitchy.. although I found the A2 inputs laggy and was "over inputing" controls a lot in A2 so maybe it's actually crisp as it should be now)) Damage will need work clearly as well... BUT... The response of the character animations, the fluidity response to input, and the added body positions, and modified running/walking setup is FANTASTIC... The underwater swimming is AMAZING... you can twirl around in the water looking up at the surface and continuing to move forward SO naturally... it's really impressive... the transitions between freelook and steering with the mouse are much more fluid and snappy as well (although I've always loved that mechanic) That combined with the gorgeous models, textures, and environment make for a truly impressive experience and I frankly can't WAIT to see how insane this gets for Beta much less commercial release... OMG THE AI!!!! I have no clue if this is my butt dyno talking or what but that AI seems WAY more realistic and accurate... REALLY improves the mood of even a slapped together mission... PHENOMENAL JOB GUYS... This alpha has absolutely captured my heart as a gamer... which has NEVER happened for a military simulator before... the entire clan a play DayZ with is ArmA>DayZ... I've always had glancing at best interest in ArmA... played ACE, ACER, CWR (this is the only one that grabbed my heart (child of the 80's lol) but I still barely ever play/ed it), and Wasteland but really only in passing...
