Desync over LAN ?

Recommended Posts

Hi all please help.

I have got a dedi server setup in my house I am playing MSO mission with a mate.

I connect to server VIA LAN so basically a straight connection

My mate connect VIA WAN he lives many many miles away.

Now here is the wierd thing he never got any red chains and his ping stayed really low but mine I was getting red chains and desyncs every few minutes the desync was all ways 10000.

Why on earth would I get desyncs when he should be if any thing?.

Please advise I am stumped here

All so would some one please advise on the best config for max message etc etc I have no idea what to set the server configs to

Here is what my internet can do

Download = 30mb

Upload = 2mb

There will never be more than 5 players connected

For MSO the requirements are higher than most missions.. I find about 256kpbs upload per connected player is what you need. So for your connection look at 6 players as the max (with overhead)... so you are OK there.

The desync I'm not too sure about I don't know a lot about what causes it exactly. I have noticed desync testing MSO mission on my LAN server with just me connected so I think it's more to do with the mission itself than any setting you can change. I have the bandwidth settings cranked up high on the LAN server too.. problem with your setup is you cannot adjust those bandwidth settings to match your connection (LAN 10/100/1000) and your friend's connection (WAN max 2mb upload).

Does the desync last a long time? I find it helps if all players stop and open their maps once the chain appears.. seems to get rid of it quicker.

ummm thanks for replying the desync does last some time maybe 10 20 seconds some times less.

Its just weird because I should be running better and my mates like I said have no to very very little desync :(

Thanks for the tip on upload per player will see what its set to.

I think for MSO it just happens on occasion.. as long as it doesn't stick for a long time I wouldn't worry too much about it.
