MP compatible sound effect at a position

In a MP map I have an action menu for players that contains the playback of a sound. I'd like to have this sound heard by other players at the position of the player that performs that action. Maybe say3D with the multiplayer framework could do the job (?):

[nil, nil, rSPAWN, [player, "PMC_ElectricBlast2"], { (_this select 0) say3D (_this select 1) }] call RE;

At least in the SP editor preview it works (can be heard). Anyone who thinks that it might not be heard in MP by other players (at near distance)?
