ARMA 2: FOB Manhattan film grain at worst and getting worst...

Recommended Posts

It's just unbearable anymore. I have AMD FX8150, GTX650 2GB, and the following happens:

1- I go to Gorka, meet with Father Fyodor, don't take his cache.

2- I go to Novy Sobor, meet with Michael (the man) and get the main base location

3- I go to Khelm, my squad mates (AI) spot the detonation man, kill him, but Liv's house is not demolished.

After all this I enter HMMW and proceed to main base, to find my screen having the film grain effect, and the experience is just ruined.

How do I disable this thing. I want to keep post process, but cancel film grainness effect.

Oh, also another bug, is the UAV thermal (N) bug. When I switch to BHOT and right click to exit, I get a negative film HUD and screen. Sometimes, UAV shows normal CMOS/CCD daylight colors and other times FLIR. Is this a bug?

Last, map tools: I saw people drawing lines. What are the keyboard keys to put tools and lines and objects on map?

Double clicking puts the X circle denoting position. A shift and click puts a donut. Anyone could tell use for donut?

Thanks in advance

Are you playing the campaign in ArmA2 1.11 or ArmA2OA 1.62?

The grainy effect can be reduced by setting lowest level of post processing, lower levels just mean less blurr.

beagle, thanks but I was talking like selectively removing the effect, keeping the blur. I'm playing DVD version of Arma 2. I have OA, but want to get basics with A2 first.

the newer patches, do they address this issue?

In A2 pp is all or nothing. Keep in mind, OA has the more andvanced engine. But "Harvest Red" is working best in old A2 anyway.

A2OA has a finer tuning for post processing but that won't help you in A2.

thanks beagle. I guess I'll go ahead and hardball Harvest Red then...

EDIT: about the map tools, what can you tell me? I saw folks online drawing lines and such. Is it possible in single player?

As far as I know this are modded features...I guss it's in ACE" or A2PR

All I know off are different coloured symbols you can use as labels.

fair enough. Is 'show of force' implemented in Arma 2? I'm trying to understand how AI reacts to fire, and I notice they'll perform always the 'basic' drill, then either flank or head-on with near impunity. By show of force, I mean firing from a big gun like SAW, does it ward AI off an area for example? Reason I ask is assassination missions. I constantly find marks inside tents or in vehicles, and need to circle around just to get others away from me for a clean shot, yet since I'm early in armory, I play with M16/ Corpsman, and the sniper seems like the best alternative for specific engagement (under limits of course).

A.I. in original ArmA II is not easy to impress, or in that case supress. Better, more life like A.I. is available in OA after 1.62.

It also depends on the use of A.I. Modules like surrender etc. and you can make A.I: even use High command structure to soem degree...but that's all for custom missions...armory missions are all very basic.

If you know how to script, you could set the grain ppeffect to 0.

OK.. OK.... About the bus stops and time travel, the manual states I can use bus stops to fast travel to a location, but is this applicable to campaign?

Thanks a zillion!!
