Placebo 29 Posted July 7, 2002 Make sure you're running the correct exe, run the correct preferences and do autodetect, read the pinned thread in the resistance forum, make sure you have shit loads of virtual memory available.......
kennethc 0 Posted July 8, 2002 By saying shit loads, what do you recomend to set the VMem? I have 640 megs of physical and set my virtual (V)RAM @ 512 min and 1024 MAx I presume that it is MB and so I Gig of Vram? Is that enough?
xerxerc 0 Posted July 8, 2002 i have exactly the same problem as described!!!!!!! what do u mean the right exe? cuz i have 2, one is opflash the other resistance. i have tried entering game ffrom either but got the same results. p3 1 ghz 256mb ram geforce2 with detonator driver(latest)
BoonieRat 0 Posted July 8, 2002 Use the two that Resistance generated. they should be at the top in the start programs window/banner... If you have the right one there should be an option to change game in a 'drop down box' from Resistance to OFP ... I have the same trouble with Resistance. what sound card are you using. try setting the sound to no acceleration, see if it helps. also try setting AGP app' to 64. PS. The Leadtek site recomends setting AGP apperature to equall your system memory!!..., or half to a 1/4 if you have troubles!.
Rambi 0 Posted July 8, 2002 i got the same problem only in cutscenes.. it has something to do with sound because i unchecked my soundcard an then not crashed to desktop
Rambi 0 Posted July 8, 2002 where can i SET no sound acceleration?
Placebo 29 Posted July 8, 2002 kennethc yup that should be plenty of vram Rambi if you use XP click the following in order control panel / sounds and audio devices / audio / advanced (under sound playback) / performance / That slider controls hardware acceleration, prolly an easier way to do it For other versions of windows I think it's somewhat similar, don't remember though so have a lil rummage
Sam Samson 0 Posted July 8, 2002 it seeeeeeeems to be a graphics driver related access violation. most of the time i can't even progress past the splashscreens before i get kicked back to dt. (using detonator xp) set my graphics settings to 16bit hicolor instead of 32, set bios agp aperture to the size of my gracard mem. now it works more often than before. (res did let me start sometimes w/o problem even before). hope they patch this soon...
Placebo 29 Posted July 8, 2002 Try using the -nosplash switch to avoice the splash screens, that may help Right click your shortcut and do properties, in target add -nosplash to the end, it should look something like below.. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">G:\OperationFlashpoint\FlashpointResistance.exe -nosplash<span id='postcolor'>
BoonieRat 0 Posted July 8, 2002 I used the in game 'Audio Options' setting to disable sound h/w~acceleration. I was getting CTD's in OFP ver#1.46 after a reformat and clean install!!! ..., which leads me to beleive it may be a soundcard thing. i tried using the on~board(C~Media) sound & Soundblaster 5.1, both were crashing if i had hardware acceleration enabled.it never used to do this!. could it be a patch thing?. 1.46?. without it enabled it has'nt crashed so far ... It is'nt a graphics driver thing cause i have tried three different drivers #23.10, #28.32 and the #29.46 ones,(numbers may be wrong, they're off the top of my head ). no luck... I've tried three different AGP drivers as well. ALi #1.74,#1.80 and 1.90 as well. no luck... I've tried two different BIOS's for my mobo(IWill KA266-r). no luck... I've tried with the AGP app' set at 64MB. no luck... I hav'nt tried a different DirectX ver# yet though. DX8.1a is what I've used. I'll try DX8.1b later.... xerxerc 0 Posted July 13, 2002 been tracking the forum for the past week, tried every single thing mentioned to no avail. it crashes to desktop at exactly the same point each time, like, straight after the loading of the island, in mission editor. is a new patch forthcoming? felt i had to resurrect this thread =P
BoonieRat 0 Posted July 14, 2002 If its crashing at the exact same place I'd suspect a bad install or a addon conflicting somewhere. if you do have addons try removing them. Also try using the 'nifty' installation checker that Placebo knocked up to see if your installation is corrupted or not. the only thing that cured my CTD's and HL's was removing ACPI, but your case sounds completly different to mine. have a look in the folder that flashpoint is installed in for a 'flashpoint.rpt' file. you'll have to click on it once to get the name to come up if you have your 'Veiw' set the same as me. if you find one open it up with a wordpad type proggie to see what it says. you can send it to BIS along with the 'context.bin' file to see what they sez ... Bryll 0 Posted July 16, 2002 I have the same problem, only with resistance. (That is CTD @ new multiplayer game or editor, campaign seems to work) System is an Athlon 1.1, ECS Elitegroup SiS Mainboard with onboard sound, GF2MX 32mb (no brand), WinXP Pro. Tried disabling hardware acceleration with sound to no avail. Not quite prepared to try nuking ACPI yet, but it's getting to that. Might be time for a reformat anyway. Grr. Oh yeah, no addons - fresh OFP install. Trying aperture stuff now...
Placebo 29 Posted July 16, 2002 How much Ram? Swapfile settings?
Bryll 0 Posted July 16, 2002 Aha! Problem solved. I tried reinstalling OFP.... =again=... and it worked. I was wondering why, so I talk to the guy who babysitted my last ofp install. me: Did you do anything to my last ofp install? him: Yeah, I used a no-cd crack so you wouldn't need to keep fishing around for the original cd. So, any weird CTDs at editor or new game .... tell them to stop using cracked exes glad i found out what was doing it tho - it was driving me crazy!
