O2 import Master Scale?

Hi guys,

Sorry for such a fundamentally newbie question, but I still don't understand the working of the Master Scale box upon importing an OBJ file?

I work in 3D app in meters, and when I export then import to O2, my Master Scale is set to "0:01".

Is this correct?

Obviously I want the model to remain EXACTLY as it was in the 3D app, but don't know if this setting makes it scale a tiny bit, like 1cm bigger or smaller..?

Is what this setting is for, is to show the grid at a certain setting, rather than it "re-scaling" the imported object?

Please could someone let me know what is happening upon importing with this set at 0:01.

Why would you do it that way? I've had no problem importing my 3ds file with a scale of 1:1. No zeroes.

I read in a tutorial somewhere (God knows now-I've read literally thousands lol...) that it should be set so.

Could you tell me the implications of this anyway, rather than just why would I do it that way? That's why I'm asking mate- I'm not being funny at all, but damn, it's tough to get some straight answers sometimes...

Are you saying I should set it to 1:1 Abs?

Hmm the answer is in your question , you work in meters , you know original size , import to O2 , measure the object In O2 if wrong adjust master scale accordingly ?

Have you verified if you working units are in meters. AFAIK, maya doesn't have Max's systems units to worry about anyways. Best way to check it is to export a 1x1x1 m cube from maya and see if it brings a 1x1x1m in o2.

Indeed, the ratio should be 1:1 on your import.

But i guess the default import is 0.01 since most eu users use centimeters, and maya default units is also centimeters, and not meters.

just tested: a 1x1x1 m cube with meters working units in maya translates to a 1x1x1m cube in O2.

PS: you really should calm yourself down a bit. While it is ok you create a new thread for each problem you have, this particular thread is non-issue, and you could have dealt with it just like i did, and it actually took me less than this very reply here.
