bardosy 154 Posted January 3, 2013 (edited) MALEME AIRFIELD COOP INV44 mission 20 May 1941 Operation Mercury (invasion of Crete, Greece) is begun. The German paratroopers landing in several spot at North coastline of Crete island. One taskforce's objective was Maleme airfield to secure it for Junkers to bring reinforcement and supply. The key to capture the airfield was the hill over Maleme.
