Steam will NOT run ARMA

Recommended Posts

Literally brand new PC, not 10 hours ago it came out the shop. Installed ARMA 2, ARMA 2:OA and the Beta. Aside from EVE Online, they are the only games installed on here. Whenever I click 'Play' on Steam, I get a notification saying;

Now Installing...

DirectX for windows 1 of 1.

This runs its course, then just disappears, leaving me with just the Steam Library. Not a single loading screen, just stops, and sometimes I get the Steam Update News, which only ever shows when a game ends, so I'm guessing this means it's starting, but for such little time the loading screen does not appear. Please help me.

(Apologies for the whining, it's gone 2AM and I am incredibly tired and annoyed):yay:

Locate steam, find steamapps folder, and find A2 OA folder and then Open DirectX folder, you will see DXSETUP executable, run it and complete installation. After that. Open your steam, library, select A2 OA, then right click and select properties and "Create shortcut button" then OK, repeat same shortcut procedure for OA Beta, after that run one of the shortcuts. Usually if OA fails to launch the Beta launches without problems. Also if you haven't updated drivers, and you are skilled enough to do it (it's very risky) you should update them, or at least let a friend do it for you.

Ok, that's not working, all I'm getting is from the installer:

An internal system error occurred.

Please refer to DXError.log and DirectX.log in your windows folder to determine problem.

But then when I go to the Windows folder, there are no files by either of those names, not even and Direct X files/Folders

Seems like something is interfering with your DX installer. If you have a firewall, make sure it allows the process to function completely. The same goes for antiviruses. Also, if you aren't running as Administrator, you need to in order to install DirectX.
