houdiniact 1 Posted November 16, 2012 Hello guys. I have a 7970 3GB graphics card running a 3 screen eyefinity setup. My monitors are 1080p. I have no problem getting the game setup to look properly and I understand the in game settings pretty well. I have also dabbled in tweaking the config file. My problem is that when I am playing at a high res such as 5960x1080 my GPU memory utilization sits around 980mb. Most games in eyefinity exceed a gig of GPU ram EASILY. Is there a tweak or something to reliable make the game use all of my GPU ram? I have set the ingame memory selector to all of the different settings and it doesnt change much. I have tried default because that is supposed to use all of my ram and I have tried low high medium. These settings change it slightly but it goes from like 800ish to like 989ish. Please help. houdiniact 1 Posted November 17, 2012 I was hoping a day alter someone would have some input on this type of setup. Anybody out there with a rig similar to mine that can share their experience?
Leon86 13 Posted November 17, 2012 why not try the highest setting of the ingame selector?
houdiniact 1 Posted November 17, 2012 Well I have tried all settings. Really what I am looking for is some input on how much GPU ram other peoples systems use when using more than one screen.
domokun 515 Posted November 17, 2012 Have you tried "default"?
iOGC_Aenigma 1 Posted November 18, 2012 As far as I am aware the Arma2/OA engine is not designed to recognise/utilise so much GPU Ram. That's just the nature of the beast.
kklownboy 43 Posted November 18, 2012 My game box 7970 3gb @ 2048/1536 75hz "VH" 6AA 3kVD, will get 2.8~ GB of VRAM.The game does not limit VRAM(vidcard RAM).System ram is different issue(32bit exe, bla bla) But this is with a single Display. I would think its a AMD driver issue. and or OS setting.
kotov12345 10 Posted November 19, 2012 how you check current vram usage ? I used win32 and recently changed to 64.I found under 64 bit game runs abit faster and smoother with same amount of ram(3GB).I bought 12gb of ram and not feel any better.
houdiniact 1 Posted November 19, 2012 Thank you for your reply. That helps a lot. If you are able to utilize that much ram I should be able to as well. I am using the latest drivers and cap's, how about you?? Also what area in the game do you get that high of gpu ram usage?? Maybe I can try to compare. But i know for a fact that it doesnt go much above 1 gig it hovers right around there. Maybe I will try a fresh install and some different drivers. What drivers are you using??
