Multiplayer Issues with OA and CO

Recommended Posts

I am trying to play Arma 2 CO with a mate of mine who just got Arma 2 OA Retail.

No matter who hosts the server ports forwarded or not(we even tried hamachi) the server won't show up in the other persons server list and direct IP won't connect to it either.

It's not a firewall/network issue, ports are forwarded, all software that could potentially block any network traffic has been disabled. The only thing I can think of is the difference between Steam and Non-Steam versions of the game, I made sure he had patched to the same version as me; no difference, still can't find the server.

Arma 2 works but in Operation Arrowhead and Combined Ops we can't connect to each others server.

I did do a pretty thorough search before posting but I am sorry if this issue has been posted elsewhere.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello,

Here are a few things that you could both try:

1. Recheck server filters and make sure that you're not set to LAN.

2a. Open up your start menu and search for "advanced".

2b. Search through each tab until you find one which lists applications on your PC, make sure Arma is unblocked/green.

Alternatively you could temporarily disable windows firewall to confirm if it is or isn't the cause.

Apologies for the shot message, I'll try to be of better assistance once I get to my desktop.

I have tried all of that including the disabling of firewalls, it's not a filter issue; as I said we tried direct IP as well as using the server browser with all filters turned off, it isn't a port forward issue as Arma 2 works fine while using the same port, we even tried hamachi which eliminates the need for port forwarding.

I did get the guy I'm trying to play with to check all of this himself but the issue may still be on his end, I'll get him to double check everything.

Thanks for the help.

Hello again,

I've just had another thought. Try running the ARMA executable files as administrator when trying to host. That could be the problem, I'm quite doubtful however.
