Blubu 1 Posted October 10, 2012 I searched now for quite three hours but only found sh*t or not that stuff iam looking for. Because most of the links are dead about O2 guides ect. I would need some links or selfmade tutorials on how to make a new unit for ofp and what program should I use O2 or Blender or something else? Can I import the animations from other programs to Ofp Anim / O2. Are there some good tuts for O2/Ofp Anim. And am I able to open BIS made models? I want to change some things on a normal civilguy model. I hope someone has left some tuts on his pc or knows some good links about that topics. Thanks. sanctuary 19 Posted October 11, 2012 If you never worked on OFP models the basis is that you need to learn how O2 works, what are selections, what they do, what are lods etc... And for that, the tutorial that launched nearly everyone into O2 is this one : http://ofp.gamepark.cz/_hosted/brsseb/tutorials.htm No other way around, characters are complex to build and so starting by learning how to do simpler models, like a building is a must, you learn to stand up before learning how to run. For modelling, you can model in O2 fully or you can use any other program that can output format that can be imported in O2, but in the end you will still need to finalize a model in O2, so learning O2 basics remains a must. The advantage of the other programs , like Blender, is that they're much better for modelling (and more) than O2 (especially the OFP version of O2 that is very limited) and have many feature making the modelling process simply much faster. But if you never worked on those programs, you'll need to learn about them and so find tutorials, for Blender there are tons of tutorials all around the internet. For OFPAnim, you have this tutorial, it was a good one : http://ofp.gamepark.cz/_hosted/animcenter/en/tutor.php
Macser_old 0 Posted October 11, 2012 Sanc's right.Although you could jump into modelling a character straight away, you're constrained by a couple of things.Quite a few selections and having to adhere closely to the original proportions and stance of a civilian/soldier model.Which is necessary if you want to build a model that's readily usable with the existing animations. It's not impossible. But if you're just getting started then a simpler project is less likely to end in irritation.I think pretty much everybody here, who's tried modeling, started with Brssebs tutorials. So that's highly recommended. Good luck with your project. :)
Blubu 1 Posted October 11, 2012 Some things arent clear yet ^^ 1. can I import blender made animations into ofp anim? 2. Can I open original BIS .p3d ? Like Angelina.p3d for example just to add some things to the model ? 3. Is there a tutorial outthere wich is telling me step by step how to make for example a soldier not any buildings and stuff but anyway thanks for the answers :)
Macser_old 0 Posted October 11, 2012 (edited) 1. No.That would require a specially written scripts/scripts.They don't exist. 2. There are two types of model.Odol and Mlod.O2 will not open an Odol. A small program exists called OdolEx.Which can open Odols and save them as Mlods. But the resulting file may have very messed up selections.Characters are especially affected by this.So it's always best to use mlods to start with. Apart from the demo models that BIS released a long time ago,any official models are in Odol form. If you take a look at Sanctuary's sig,he has a modders resource available. In that are mlod versions of his units and weapons. That would be a good place to start experimenting. In Sanc's sig is also a link to Vektorboson's Blender scripts. For version 2.49. These will allow you to import/export P3ds(with certain limitations). 3. Not that I'm aware of. Edited October 11, 2012 by Macser
