Killerpuppy 1 Posted October 4, 2012 Hey all, I'm new here to the forums and I am having issues trying to start up ArmA 2. I have installed it and go to launch the game when tick boxes show up, the last 2 don't tick (not part of the problem) and then it either stops responding or crashes. During some of my attempts it HAS loaded and works perfectly fine, so my computer isn't the problem. I am completely unsure as to what is causing this problem and any help to resolve it would be appreciated. Cheers.

Killerpuppy 1 Posted October 4, 2012 I'll get my computer specs up ASAP. Also I bought ArmA 2 CO DVD copy so I have no idea what version I have. And I am running ArmA 2, not going to try and install OA until I get ArmA 2 working. ---------- Post added at 08:24 ---------- Previous post was at 08:17 ---------- Os - Windows XP (I know, it's sad) AMD Athlon X2 250 Processor 3.0Ghz 2 GB RAM Directx 9.0c As for the graphics card I have no idea how to find that out but off the top of my head it's about 1 GB. ProfTournesol 956 Posted October 4, 2012 Use dxdiag (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows/how-to-run-a-directx-diagnostic-on-xp/) and look at the "display" window.

ProfTournesol 956 Posted October 4, 2012 (edited) All this seems very weak for me. I'm not really surprised you've got trouble to run the game. Did you try to update your video card driver ? Did you patch the game to the most recent version ? Edited October 4, 2012 by ProfTournesol
Gunter Severloh 4088 Posted October 4, 2012 During some of my attempts it HAS loaded and works perfectly fine, so my computer isn't the problem. From your first post. Since you had it runnign then, can you locate your RPT, and post it: Below are the locations of where your rpt will be depending on what operating system you have, since you have Win xp such as I then you can locate your rpt here: ARMA 2 The arma2.rpt, is located in your -profiles root directory, or if used without this parameter then it can be found in these default locations: WINDOWS XP: %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\ArmA 2 Rpt is a log file that the game generate to basically report anything about the game, be it errors, what your runnign, status of the game ect,. With the Rpt we can get a better idea of what your game is doing if anything to see what may be possibly crashing the game. Rpt can be opened up with notepad, so all you need to do is locate it, then open it, then highlight everything in it and then post it in a reply. Further info on the rpt can be found here: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/RPT
Killerpuppy 1 Posted October 4, 2012 Heh well I kinda un installed it and deleted all files related to it and re-installed it... God I'm dumb. Thanks for your help guys but judging that my computer probably shouldn't be able to run it, I will put it to the side until I get my new computer that DEFINITELY can run it :) Thanks for all your help, cheers mates. Gunter Severloh 4088 Posted October 4, 2012 You dont need a new computer a better graphics card is all you need. I have win xp myself, but i have a single core cpu, 2g ram nvidia geforce, gtx 285 750psu with my specs I can run the game on med np, I normally play on low settings but the game still looks pretty good, i'd get a Nvidia card, I never had issues with em. Whats your power supply (you'll have to open your case and look at the label to find out).
