Island "Outpost" - Research Center not usable?

I was wondering if the Research Center on the island Outpost is usable or not?

Im pretty early in the game but have noticed that I can use, and accuire new tech, from the research centers on the different islands.

Thought I'm not able to use the research center on Outpost.

Has anyone been able to use it and get anything from it?

I'm pretty sure you need to cap the command center on the island first. Then you can use the RC.

You dont actually use the research Center.

Instead you get new equipment and upgrades from them, that you can produce for your units.

You have to capture the island before you can access the research center though.

I can't seem to get any blueprints. I've gone back to the research centers that I forgot and have gotten nothing. :(

I think I tried to access the research lab before I captured the command center on Outpost, but got nothing, and then I know I've tried afterward.

Maybe I got some blueprints automatically on capturing the command center?

You have to access the Research center after capturing the Command center to get new blueprints.

I have tried doing it the other way around, but got nothing, unless its part of the story.

Also, if there are factories on the island, try accessing them, they usually give you some equipment you can use.
