New to arma have a few questions missions/steam

Recommended Posts

So I am downloading combined ops on steam right now and cant wait just finished flashpoint and decided to give Arma 2 a go, and i just have a few questions.

i just got Arma 2 and operation arrowhead on steam and was wondering if these are kept up to date? also i found out some people have been having problems with the steam version if i have these same problems can i

download Arma 2 and reuse my CD keys? is there a download for Arma 2 without buying it again? (i understand this might be best suited to steam forums)

secondly i was hoping to play through the single player a few times before going online because i don't want to be one of those guys (you know who I'm talking about : P ), and all the reviews i have seen are complaining about AI. The last post on any

forum i could find was early 2011 and that was saying it was unplayable, is it? have they fixed some of the AI issues? I don't mind the odd AI issues i got this game because its a Sim and its the best from what i heard, I also understand being as big as this game is with this much depth there are going to be issue's just wanted to know is this true or just some cod fan boys not able to make the transition from god solider to Sim solider venting over AI difficulty.

ps hope i got the right area to post : P

Welcome to the forums. :)

The Steam versions of ArmA 2 and ArmA 2: Operations Arrowhead are kept up to date. I believe you should have 1.62. There are no other alternative ways to download the game legally other than from places you purchased it. What problems are you talking about that people have had with the Steam version?

The AI are the best in its class. There are absolutely no other games that have AI like ArmA does. Sometimes you may think that the AI is being really stupid, but you must remember that it is only a computer. Pathfinding isn't the best, but it works.

Remember that at the end of the day it's just a game. Have fun! :)

Ha ha, wait til you try the mods!, you haven't chosen wrong my friend, after you get the game going play with it for as bit, get the feel of it,

and then after some time try out the mods, but it would be best you learn about the game and get familiar as the game has a learning curve to it,

think of the game this way, you can do anything, go anywhere, be anybody, drive any vehicle/plane ect,.

Game also has multiple editors where you can build your own missions.

If you like OFP then you will def like this, only gets better!

The last post on any

AI issues i got this game because its a Sim and its the best from what i heard,

Dont take what you read as the truth, find out for yourself, as said the AI path finding can be dumb sometimes but if you dont like the Ai you

can always mod your game, but overall I think you'll be in for a surprise.

COD btw has nothing on this game, you'd be lucky to do in COD what you can in this game, your playing a Military Sandbox now, its a whole different ball game.

Also as for modding if you ever to go on that path, you can build mods, scripts, and all sorts of things, but here the community

is at your service, just be sure to search before you post.

if you have any questions about the game or anything related and or need help I'm always available,

or you can search through the forums here for whatever interests you.

lastly Armaholic here:

http://www.armaholic.com/index.php

Is a great place to get your news on any new patches new mods, updates, missions, scripts, ect,.

Welcome to the Bis forums btw, We'll see you around!

No problem. :)

I would recommend that you play some of the training missions that are available before playing any other missions. They might be cheesy, but they help. You'll definitely want to check out the editor as well. You can create pretty much any kind of scenario you want. (With some scripting knowledge of course) But basic missions don't require any scripting knowledge.

Have fun. ;)

If you get sick with the campaign, just try the single mission 1st.

when you want to jump into the MP bandwagon, keep a lookout on servers running warfare, insurgency, and etc. Watch some youtube vids to get the gist of it, you can always asks around in the game. Most of us dont really mind, just not when are being engaged at the moment.
