Yeti1 1 Posted September 21, 2012 (edited) If it goes with the background story then it will be desolate due to the war. If I look out my window right now, all I see is empty streets and parked cars, fair enough a car went past a minute ago on the busier road, so basically all you would need to do is park a few cars outside a pub, some parked outside houses and it would have a more live feel, that said, I can't imagine anyone would leave their cars behind when running or hiding from war. EDIT: Check this at 4:30 it explains a bit about how the conditions of the towns will be, there's a been a war for too long now and the world reflects that. doveman 7 Posted September 21, 2012 It's one of the things I find annoying in ArmA, that many of the buildings have just plain grey concrete outside walls. Perhaps that is accurate for the region it's set in (although it's not actually set anywhere real, so surely some artistic licence is allowed?) but the problem is that it's very noticeable that the walls have no texture and thus look very unrealistic, which doesn't help with immersion. In comparison, I was playing some GRAW2 the other day and the buildings (on the level I was on anyway) were built from stone, with the result that the outside walls weren't flat and plain and had some texture, which meant I didn't think "ugh, those graphics are really out-of-date" every time I looked at one. Maybe it's possible to give a textured appearance to flat walls without affecting performance but if not, perhaps it would be better to use stone-built buildings rather than concrete to avoid this problem. totalboffin 10 Posted September 21, 2012 I find having civilians, moving traffic and parked cars does add alot to our coop games. Using a "fear" factor civilians can run to their homes and hide when the local area is under fire and then come out and go about their business when all is calm, still very simple stuff but does mean people have to check targets rather than just shooting everything that moves. In some situations you may not want any civilians in the area if its been taken over by a military presence. Adding better ambient civilian logic would be really nice to see in Arma 3, especially for dedicated server games.
wipman 1 Posted September 21, 2012 Hi, since the OFP that i don't see any or very few civilian life arround even in places where they shouldn't be affected by the evils of the war, giving me the impression that i was on an empty terrain, surrounded by my own ones and that all what i had to do... was kill anything on our way from Point A to Point B and then to Point C, where the mission will come to it's end; in other words... removing inmersion from the SP/MP gameplay. Few were the missions where i was really inmersed and took it as a training exercise, kept focused to don't loose any detail arround me or what everyone was doing and where they were; since the ArmA that i'd felt to be just on a more complex shoot 'em up and that removed the enthusiasm and the joy of the missions and campaign. I find hard to belive that that would change with the ArmA3, but i think that BIS gonna improve the game from the ArmA2 point. Let's C ya
