Ofp:r - what is this?

Recommended Posts

Any ideas on why the group leader has a captain rank?

My guess(es):

1. OFP:R will allow players to command more than one squad at a time

2. That rank tells you that that player has a radio to call in support with.

3. Maybe it's just another, otherwise useless way of telling the player that #1 is the group leader.

P.S. - sorry about the big picture.

Oh yeah -

Does anyone notice that viewing range? The bridge is 468m away, yet it's not even halfway to the farthest hilltop. Maybe the game "view bubble" has been drastically increased. Wouldn't that be cool?

i tend to be a grunt, unless others are so dumbfound to do resonable things, so i really don't have much say about command structure.

but as soon as I get it, I'll goto mission editor and boom! there goes the bridge... tounge.gif

it has, to my knowledge, you can set it from anywhere from 700m-5000m.

Nope. Unless you havent already noticed, rank inflation is rampant in OFP. Just check the 'Group' section of your Notebook in the campaign briefing. How many regular army 12 man infantry units are commanded by Captains and Eltees? What you are seeing is just a carryover of the same effect. Nice thought though

The bridge pic? Scroll down to the June 13th news at OFP RU. These were released by CM a few weeks ago. You can download the whole set from CM from here.

actuly the comand structer is quite nice, it is in the 1.60 beta test the icons of the people change depending the weapon loadout the person has so if a MG person picks up a law his icon would cange from a MG person to a Law person icon making this quite nice for a comander that tells a person to go and pick up items

I heard that Eastern armies use officers in their squad leader positions. is this true? The NCO in the American army is far different than his eastern counterpart.

I also remember some other new symbols, eg. the crossed lightsabers indicating soldiers with NVG, I think.
