how to mod vehicle stats?

im sorry, but i didnt know where else to ask this. basicly, i want to slightly improve various stats of mi-24v, and also slightly improve its weapons. bah, who am i kidding? scratch that, i want to turn it into a death star. i am aware that i wont be able to play multiplayer like this, so i will simply include a backup file for multiplayer (and backup in general).

but first tell me if i will have to pay for any of the tools. then i probably wont do it

First: wrong section, this belongs into the editing forum. Will move it for you.

Second, you don't need to edit any of the BI files, all you need is to create a replacement addon which will alter the original MI-24 to your needs. All it needs is a new config file which can be done with Notepad (is included in windows) and BinPBO (BI Tools suite, use the search function to find it) which is all free.

Browse and search the editing forum as such things have be done a hundreds of time and therefor surely all info is already there.

first of all, im a noob at this

the tutorials keep saying stuff about a file called "config.bin", thats the file we need to edit. but, i cant find this file. i used the windows search option, and the file does not exsist. i searched all over my arma 2 folder, and its not there.

All addon data is stored within PBO files

You dePBO those files (with various tools : use search) to see all the contents within

Including the config.bin

Note that this file, like others, are BINARIZED. Can't be read as is.

Again use a tool (like unRap) to un-binarize it and make it readable

config.bin will turn into config.cpp, that is readable.
