tortuosit 486 Posted August 26, 2012 Hi, I'm absolutely stunned by the game concept and the beta; I have a few questions though... 1. In map view, I can change zoom levels with the mouse. But there seem to be harsh steps. I'm not sure if my mouse is too sensitive and if it skips zoom levels... Hence my question: is it right, there are only 3 Island detail levels? I mean in the next level you see the island in blue? 2. In non map view, will there be a camera distance control by mouse wheel? Because there, the mouse wheel has no function... 3. AFAICS there are only 2 3rd person camera positions which you can change with TAB. But both are too close at the vehicle for me, most of the time I cannot see the whole vehicle. Will there be more camera distances? I really think there should be at least one more setting with a more far distance of the camera :) TIA Michael
Suranis 1 Posted August 26, 2012 I think you can swap weapons on Manta's with the mouse wheel, like swapping from Lasers to rockets. I think your mouse wheel might be too sensitive to be honest on the zoon :)
dram 14 Posted August 27, 2012 Hi, really glad you like the game. There should be 6 zoom levels in total ranging from islands as colored circles to the detailed island layout. If you are seeing any less, then I would firstly test whether the mousewheel is skipping too much. This occurred to me a while back as well. As for camera distance that is set. You can switch between first person view and 3rd person. The mouse wheel, while controlling a unit, is used to change weapons, as Suranis mentioned above. tortuosit 486 Posted August 28, 2012 (edited) Aha, OK, I'm seeing 6 zooming levels (but my mouse wheel is over sensitive, anyway) thanks. Will there be an option to assign keys also to map zooming? I'm in the bad position, I cannot update to a higher version of MS Intellipoint (where you can set mouse wheel sensitivity per application) because it introduces bugs (browser scrolls lightning fast). But in the currently used version I cannot set wheel sensitivity... There it should be a global windows setting to my knowledge. But mouse wheel is alright for typical applications like a word processor or browser; but in some games fast as the light. Same is in Arma games where you use it for the menu... What I think is, Walrusses cannot be zoomed out enough: there should be one more level to zoom them out in order to really see them as a whole. At the moment we do not have the option to assign the map zooming keys to different buttons, however that's something we'd like to fix. I've reported it into our internal tracker. What I think is, Walrusses cannot be zoomed out enough: there should be one more level to zoom them out in order to really see them as a whole. The 3rd person perspective has changed somewhat since the last beta release I believe. I'd recommend trying it again in the new upcoming build.
