Mr.P 0 Posted June 19, 2002 I just had by far my best game of OFP ever I was playing Silent Killer for the heck of it (the one where you have to blow up the fuel depot and the fuel truck in the convoy), easy mission, but I wanted to try to take out as much as possible with what I had.......here's what I wound up with: 2x T-72s 2x Officers 3x BMPs 2x MGs 2x Grenadier 2x Ural Fuel 16x Soldier 12x Crew UAZ Not bad if you ask me....... I got lucky though, I placed a charge by the fuel dump, then one in the middle of the road hoping to catch the T-72 as it went by........well, as it went passed my position I thought what the heck and opened fire on the crew hanging out the hatches......and got both of them. The driver hops out of the tank, I shoot him.......now I have a undamaged T-72 at my disposal. Problem is there are 2 BMPs roamin around that will blast the crap out of me if I hop in.......so I wait till they're back over by my charges and take out both with them. Hop in the T-72, destroy the convoy easy, take out another T-72 that comes my way, then another BMP. Use my last satchel charge to blow up the one I'm in, then run off to the car. Man that was a blast!
PopUpTarget 0 Posted June 20, 2002 I never thought of trying that. Here's a twist you may want to try. Go back and play Prisoner Escape (or is it just "Escape"?). Anyway, I tried this and it was fun. After you're transported via Hind to the second location try this. As the Spetznatz guy is leading you away from the helo, let him get several meters ahead. But do not walk past the helo, stop at the tail rotor. Wait (timing is critical here) for the rotors to nearly stop, then sprint along the left side of the helo, opposite the troops standing around waiting for you to try something. Go to the cockpit and get in as pilot. Right now you are immune to smll arms fire because the cockpit is bullet proof. Start the engine, then select Manual Fire. A couple of rockets fired immediatley will take out the soldiers in front of you. Then lift off and have a blast blowing everyone away! Capture me will you?!? When you're out of ammo, head out over the ocean and turn north. The game will end normally after you get far enough. If you don't turn out over the ocean you'll probably be shot down. This is cause you start off classed as 'East' and get labeled a team killer. Once you're 'West' again you're still a team killer and your boys try to kill you. What I do is hop in the BMP and use all the evasive manuevers I can think of. Easiest to simply use as much cover as you can.
PopUpTarget 0 Posted June 20, 2002 Shab, I believe it is the 1985 Missions (v. 1.42). It didn't happen that way to me though. I thought I was going on a sightseeing tour of the island in the stolen Hind, but as soon as I hit the trigger heading north, the mission ended. It played the same ending as though I had arrived on foot. I considered the BMP, but after getting turned into Swiss cheese everytime I made my move, I decided to discard the idea. Guest Titanium Posted June 20, 2002 I always steal the hind, but the way I do it is when you get out of the hind, immediatly run behind the building you are ner. Go through the doorway and pick up an Ak or PK. KIll all the soldiers around you (this can get a lil tough) then just tak e the chopper. I bloe up everyne else in the bse with it and then head south. Reach the base you take over as armstrong in the last mission. Land and get out, mission ends.
Random 0 Posted June 21, 2002 You could try getting in the chopper as gunner, and then waiting for another crew member to jump in as pilot. He'll take off and fly around, but you won't be shot at, so you can just do some strafing runs on the people on the ground.
Warin 0 Posted June 21, 2002 I found the easiest way... Follow the Spetnatz guy, but instead of getting into the tent, hop into the BMP. Drive over to the Hind, mow down the crew before they get in. Ckean up around the base, take the hind, fly north until you trigger the mission end. Fly low and fast though because there is a shilka in them thar hills
grayghost 0 Posted June 21, 2002 I tend to eb able to take out the Shilkas before they get rid of me ... but I guess that's just me.
