Crash to desktop when loading multiplayer

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I have searched high and low for about two days before I have decided to post here and I did not find anything about this error so... I have Arma 2 and OA installed on Steam and I cannot play past the multiplayer loading screens (for either game, I've been mostly trying to play Day Z though and as far as I know, this is not an error with the Day Z files). It gets stuck around 90% whenever I try to join any server. I have played around with my video settings in game but it does no good either. It then crashes to desktop after and the error shown is

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

I have formatted to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and installed only a few drivers; my ethernet driver, my USB headset driver, my 3.0 USB drivers and my Realtek drivers for my speakers. I have made sure my video drivers are up to date, but it still does not work.

The launch settings I have for the game are currently

-mod=@dayz -nosplash, -winxp, -world=empty -maxmem=2047 -cpucount=4 -maxVRAM=1024

And my computer specs are

Windows 7 Ultimate 6.1 Build 7601

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Processor (4 CPUs ~3.2Ghz)

4Gb RAM

Radeon HD 5700 series

Here is also a link with all my .cfgs and my dxdiag.txt

If there are any other files needed, please tell me and I will upload them!

I would appreciate if anyone could help me!

Thank you!

Are you able to launch and play the game at all? Have you tried any of the singleplayer missions or have you tried playing around in the editor? Is this crash only present when you try to connect to a multiplayer game? Have you tried restarting your computer? How about running the game as administrator? Are you running any programs in the background that may be causing issues?

Also, I don't believe you need most of those launch settings, at least try launching the game without them. Of all the years I've played Operation Flashpoint, ArmA: Armed Assault, and ArmA II I've never used any launch options except when running a mod and have never had any issues. I recommend only using "-mod=@DayZ" and "-nosplash". Bohemia Interactive has addressed many issues over the years fixing the need to use some of those launch options.

I can launch and play in single player for both Arma 2 and AO and I have tried playing in the editor. I have been running the game as admin and I have no background programs up. I just did a fresh install of Windows JUST to play this, so I'm hoping there's a solution. I'll try launching it without the other settings, thanks.

Try just:

-nosplash -mod=@dayz

Or use Arma II Launcher or similar. Saves messing around with launch settings for different mods

For a new guy to read this, and possibly want to use a launcher may I suggest linking to a page to download a launcher.
