A few straightforward questions.

First off hello ARMA community. My brief history with this developer is with the original Operation Flashpoint. I played that game a ton and had an absolute blast with it. Most the time i just flew around in the Chinook helicopter and gave myself challenges in trying to land that beast in the most precarious of locations. I never really played any multiplayer or coop with it, I mainly just spent my solo time having fun and planning very basic missions. After that I started getting heavily into Ghost Recon. I met some really great tactical playing people and have been playing with them ever since through a variety of different shooters.

With the recent release of Ghost Recon Future Soldier we were initially excited. Although not perfect the series always gave us enough options to carve our own tactical coop gameplay moments here and there. However the new release is horrible. It is a run and gun typical console kill fest. We... suffice it to say are disappointed. I have never played the ARMA series however i have always followed them out of sheer curiosity. Now comes the hard part. I want to sell this game to my friends who i know would be excited to play it. However there are some questions I would love to get answered to the best of the communities abilities. They are pretty straightforward questions that would make selling this game to my 6-8 close shooter friends that this is the right game to move on to.

1. Will Arma3 mission editor allow me to essentially build an entire scenario ? As in, can I plan insertions, mission objectives, place enemy units, kit out myself, and plan an extraction and have all that packaged up in a way that my friends can share along with ?

2. Will Arma3 allow us to customize the look, weaponry, and load outs of our characters in coop missions or the very least with in the custom missions ?

3. How user friendly is the lobby system in the Arma series of games ? Or is it going to be different in Arma3 than in previous Arma games ? (if I plan a coop mission with the editor, how do friends of mine get in the game and link up with me. Is it via a lobby type system, user hosted room etc?)

4. Does Arma3 support player created clans/squads etc. in any way?

Thank so much for any answers you can provide. I realize a lot of these answers will be based off Arma 2 and that is of course understandable. I also understand that the Arma series is much more of a simulation experience, is much slower paced, and can be as much about the details than it is pulling the trigger. That is in essence what we are excited about.

Hey and welcome.

1. Yes. Everything you said is possible. Check this video out for a basic idea:

The editor in A3 will be 3D so it should be easier to handle for both veteran and new players :)

2. ArmA 3 will be the first in the series to allow us to "customize" our soldiers and other units. When creating the mission in the editor you will be able to select what headgear, vests, combat fatigues and backpacks you and other units you place on the map will have. You can also customize your weapons on the go based on what parts you are carrying. We don't have full details on both systems though :(

3.You just have to create a mission and then you can host it either yourself or on a dedicated server :) Same thing goes for the missions that come with the vanilla game.

4. It supports Squad tags. We have a neat system in ArmA 2 for example where a patch appears on your shoulder and on vehicles driven by you as long as you places a squad url in your player profile.

Yes, you can build entire campaigns within the ArmA editor and with the the use of scripting. You can literally make anything using the editor. The only limitation is your creativity and scripting abilities.

Not sure the specifics, but you can change scopes and add various attachments to your weapon while ingame. You can also change clothes.

3. How user friendly is the lobby system in the Arma series of games ? Or is it going to be different in Arma3 than in previous Arma games ? (if I plan a coop mission with the editor, how do friends of mine get in the game and link up with me. Is it via a lobby type system, user hosted room etc?)

I'm going to assume that the multiplayer experience will be exactly the same as in ArmA II, only with a different look.

4. Does Arma3 support player created clans/squads etc. in any way?

Once again I'm going to assume this will be the same as in ArmA II, you can even have your clan or squad logo as a patch on your character and it will also appear on vehicles.
