Aircraft Rolling - Modelling or Config

Recommended Posts

So I selected the model, selected all 40 sections is there some rebinarization process that needs to go down again? or is it still not working because sections are still not defined>

So if what you said above is true Thromp, then it should work I think there are a couple more steps that are needing to be taken here.

Figuring it out slowly,

Now how to binarize the p3d, thinking that might be the problem, when I use PBOview it makes the pbo and it looks fine no errors or anything, but in order for these actions to work does it have to be binarzied?

If so how exactly does one go about binarizing p3d files.

oh and max, one of my buddy's gave it to me, he has been holding onto it for a couple months, and he decided that we would let me take a look at it.

He says he got it from some finnish mod, and he wrote to them asking if he could use it, and I guess they said yes, because now he has it. So, enough getting sidetracked here,

A couple of questions, would not having a file binarized cause the scripts for the gear flaps and other things to not be animated? If so how does one fix this.

Other question is what program is reccommended for Binarizing things. Bin PBO. I have that,

Final question, kind of goes back to the first one. I redefined all of the areas in the model, and was wondering if that is all that need to be done, so should everything in the model be working now if I Pbo it up from this point, or is there some more steps I need to take.

Did he say he got permission to distribute the FDFmod's MLODs to anyone he wants?

He got the pack from their website. as did I. A completely free mod. Open to the public. I asked for the F18 as an addon so I could just put it in missions without the entire mod, and if this is about some permission thing, I am already in communications with the FDF team, I am a member on their forums, and a good member of the arma 2 community. I would never steal, or distribute an addon without permission. So if that is what you are worried about do not worry permissions are being established. But can you please answer my questions now.

With my line of questioning, my objective was to prevent a situation wherein you are infracted / banned / suspended for license related problems.

AFAIK, FDFMod is not "open to the public". Free != free to modify. I'm asking before you get to deep into this because our rules for content permissions require you to respect licenses, and for permission to be obtained before you modify other peoples' work. I see that you are currently seeking permission on the FDFMod forums, therefore you have not obtained permission. Posting screenshots or other activities using work that is modified without permission can attract administrative action.

Unfortunately, I cannot help you if you are unpacking other peoples' work without permission. It is not acceptable on this forum.

Hi M.Evans,

The problem is that if you have the original source mlod then you do not need to 'redefine' all the selections in the p3dm mlod as they are already defined. You should already have the model.cfg too if you have the source.

See when you save a p3dm mlod .p3d from O2PE if any of the selections are currently completely empty of faces & points then O2 removes that selection from the file. If you are having to redefine all the selections in this model because they are empty that says that the model is being looked at directly after being converted from odol to p3dm.

Get the original p3dm & model.cfg then come back and post.

Cheers, Sy.

oh ya getting banned would be bad, :/ and do not worry I do not plan on doing anything to endanger my rep in the arma 2 community, I am not going to post anything relating to the topic video or picture wise. Thank you Max, thank you for looking out. Respect.

Well it is not only for this model, but the FA18F as well. Because either way editing the FA18F I still need to binarize the model.cfg and p3d file to one.

So I will work on the number 7 plane for now, which is an F model. (which I have)

Model.cfg + FA18F.p3d = Binarized.

How to do that ^^

My P drive no longer kicks in on computer startup.

Ive instead simply placed a shortcut on my desktop. Find where your "mapdisk.bat" is. Shortcut properties example: E:\Develop1\ArmA2Work\mapdisk.bat

I got it fixed, my p drive is there but now I have a whole bunch of armawork folders. Like the directory is Armawork/everything that is supposed to be in armawork along with another Armawork/Armawork/Armwork Stuff. I think that might cause some problems.

Another thing, none of my textures show up on the F18F. they are in the folder but does that folder have to be somewhere special, like in the P drive or in the armawork folder?

EDITED

I just did that thing with renaming the folder Arma2Work like in your tutorial videos.

Weird thing is that is wont let me delete the old armawork folders.

You can get the computer to run that batch file on startup using the event scheduler.

Alright, got the models working again but now I get a problem where after I binarize the aircraft the canopy is black and you cant see in or out of it, any ideas?

I'm pretty sure that has been covered before in other threads. Hasn't it?

edit: Well, I took a look and I couldn't find anything- because that's the kind of guy I am. I blithely tell someone 'go search', then I do a search to make sure you can find something... because I'm an a-hole.

Anyways, you are sure you have the proper shaders and textures applied to the glass?

Using a .pac file not a .paa file maybe.

Or theres something else wrong with the glass texture?

OT, but just put the .bat file in your startup folder... Start>All Programs>Startup.
