Arma II and Op Arrowhead Key question

Hello there, I have a Arma II vanila from Green Man Gaming which I got for free, Im thinking about buying Operation Arrowhead from an Digital Distribuitor that I have in my country which is kinda like steam, they give you the serial and the means to download the game (sometimes even from steam itself) and Im wondering if I purchase the Key there will I be able to use the content from Arma II vanila (which is from GMG) on my Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead!?

Im aware that if you have both games you can play the vanila maps on operation arrowhead, and some mods requires you to have both, so how does this works? Does Arma II have some kinda of activation system in game? Do I just have to install both on the same folder to gain access to the vanila stuff?

You must install them both separately. ArmA 2 then runs as a mod for Operation Arrowhead.

That might be, but it's true. By now we have I don't know how many threads about how to combine ArmA2 and OA. And with each new thread created, the confusion for those who actually using the search gets bigger and bigger.

There is a sticky thread right here in this forum about combining the two versions where either your answer is posted already, or you could have asked this.
