C.Van.z6i 0 Posted June 16, 2002 In game, once and a while the sides of trucks and other vehicles and houses will disappear and the background will be seen. I have an ATI Radeon 32mb DDR so i dont think its a video card problem. If anyone knows how to fix it reply plz.
Mister Frag 0 Posted June 16, 2002 What OS are you using, what video driver version do you have, and what color depth (16bit/32bit)? Are you using the W-Buffer option?
C.Van.z6i 0 Posted June 17, 2002 98 SE, the driver that came with my card, i tried to install new one and it ruined my comp, took me 3 days to fix, and whatever color resolution i pick it does the same thing
C.Van.z6i 0 Posted June 17, 2002 what is the w-buffer option and where can i do it?
Mister Frag 0 Posted June 17, 2002 You never indicated what color depth (16/32 bit) you are running at, but if you are using 16-bit color, I'd change to 32-bit color first and see if that fixes the problem. You can enable the use of the W-Buffer in the Video Options dialog in OFP. Your card and driver have to support and enable the W-Buffer as well, however, and I'm not sure where the ATI driver controls this -- I would look around in the Windows Control Panel -> Display -> Advanced. FYI, a W-Buffer is an alternate depth buffering technique. It can alleviate clipping and related texturing problems.
C.Van.z6i 0 Posted June 17, 2002 Ya i said whatever color depth i use it does the same thing, and i checked and my buffer option is enabled.
Mister Frag 0 Posted June 17, 2002 In that case, it would appear to be a buggy video card driver.
Jester983 0 Posted June 17, 2002 I have a friend that has an ATI and he says its a pain in the ass sometimes. If you are planning to get a new graphics card i recommend getting any type of GeForce. You can get them pretty cheap too.. Have you tried upgrading your OS? If you have an extra win2k give it a shot. Otherwise, just contact ATI people and ask them. C.Van.z6i 0 Posted June 18, 2002 I wouldn't dare try d/l a new driver for a big reason. Last time i d/led the one that they told me to d/l and it ended up not recognizing. This caused my monitor to go blank. I worked in safe mode for 5 and a half hours fixing it. Thanks for suggestions, just looks like ill have to deal with it:) Jester trust me, if i could buy a geforce, i would. Its hard funding yourself if you work at star market lol.
