where do i get started in Arma 2 OA?

hi i have recently bought arma 2 operation arrowhead and i have been on the missions to know the controlls a little better and now im looking to play on multiplayer. although if i try to join a current game it always says i cannot connect. i think i need the latest patch if someone could provide one and where to put the patch that would be great! also if anyone can give me general tips and point me in the right direction that would be great. :)

1.Almost all people play with arma2 CO v1.60 (arma 2 and arma 2 OA instaled together).

2.You need patch v1.60, this patch also update arma 2 to v1.11, if you have arma 2 installed.

3.Patches you can download for example from Armaholic.

4. Check what mods are on server (ace, acre etc), if you dont have the seme mods like on server you cant connect and play.

So you have just Arma2OA standalone, which means you have only the Arma2OA.exe, and not Arma2.exe as well?

Your main Arma2 directory should be around this folder address on your computer:

C:\Program Files\Atari\Bohemia Interactive\Arma2

If so what I suggest is also buy Arma2, and then install OA into Arma2 main directory once you do this then you will have

whats called Arma2CO or aka Arma2 Combined Ops. With this you should be able to get onto any server, unless its locked.

Download it to your desktop is fine, and then extract the zip, , once extracted, double click on the exe

and it will find your directory and then patch your game.

if you have trouble then put it into your main Arma2 directory and then run the exe.

When you click on a server, look at the bottom text box. It will tell you if the person is running mods. It'll look like this: @ACE@JSRS@ZEUS@Fallujah, etc...

If you join a server that doesn't run mods, you have a better chance of connecting and playing successfully. If you see a server or mission that has 'ace' in the title, don't join unless you install the ACE 2 mod. (I highly recommend it when you are more experienced)

Insurgency is a good mission to gain experience with, both teamwork and individual. The very best education is to drop in on an established co-op community and try to follow their orders and coordinate with their squads.
