Xilimyth 1 Posted April 16, 2012 (edited) I'll make it short and sweet: I finally managed to pull my friends away from Call of Duty and Battlefield to play ARMA 2 Free (hopefully leading to Arma 2 : OA) and they're practicing and getting used to the gameplay in the Warfare / CTI modes. The question is, all players start off as Squad Leaders even with AI off and they're unable to group into squads. Voice communication works well enough but spotting for them/us is proving troublesome, ESPECIALLY for two players piloting a vehicle (tank and helos). A viper pilot for instance will next target, call out a location and see the targeting box for a hellfire strike, but the gunner doesn't see the targeting box due to being in a separate fire team. (The main concern is for the pilots and coordinating hellfires) Is there a way to share this information or is it restricted to an AI? Thanks in Advance. .kju 3244 Posted April 16, 2012 The mission uses single unit groups as it can be abused in unfair ways very much otherwise. The way we operate is to call out targets based on direction and distance using the compass and a rough estimation. Another element is to describe the surrounding next to the target somewhat, like easy to recognize/unique objects/buildings. Finally map markers can work well too, if both have the time to (create and check). Edit: Two human crew piloting has hardly any benefits (unfortunately). It is very hard to coordinate. That's what I suspected. Doesn't really phase me too much, but trying to get the team adapted to arma when they're coming from Call of Duty. Man I could use all the help I can get. I suppose I could just tell my gunner to hit the next target button or something.
Treelor 0 Posted May 9, 2012 Whenever the pilot selects a target, he tells the gunner to "TARGET THAT <object> AT <two digit number>." Those two digits are the first two digits in the three digit heading. IE: "TARGET THAT TANK AT 35" means there is a tank at 350 the pilot wishes the gunner to target. I hope that helps!
