swissarmy 1 Posted April 15, 2012 Are you kidding with the thread link? There are 101 pages of generally unorganized, though useful, answers. New players (and I count myself as one of them as I've been playing Arma 2 for only 6 months) need much better, organized documentation and tutorials. The manual is fine for very, very basic gameplay. Unfortunately, the Wiki is not well written. Newbies need a document that takes them through the steps of play and editing. And once past the newbie stage, there has to be a better organized reference document with more details on in-game controls and mission editing.
Gunter Severloh 4072 Posted April 15, 2012 Quote Are you kidding with the thread link? There are 101 pages of generally unorganized, though useful, answers. the thread is not a tutorial, its more specific to new players, that have questions about whatever, be it the game, editor, whatever, so the thread in itself is perfect for such things, all you need to do is for what your asking is ask is there a tutorial, or documentation for play and mission editing. One of the best ways to learn the game is to just hop in and trial and error it, for example back in the first game in the series (OFP)2001 i used to just hop in the editor and put a player down and just try stuff out and see what it would do, i tried different things, and learned things as i went, just an idea you could do the same. Just start the game, go to editor, pick a island, then once open, double click where ever on the island, and then it enter, then save create a name, then hit preview, done your ingame. at this point you can review the Manuel that came with the game and get your controls sorted. as for tutorials: ArmA2 "Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures" Guide. http://ttp2.dslyecxi.com/ New to Multiplayer? Guest Posted April 15, 2012 Additionally there are already numerous threads where people discuss which addons to use, we do not need everyone to start his own just cause having to go through xx pages is to much to do for one self. Günter has been helpfull enough to link you to enough topics to keep you busy for some time.
