dekster 1 Posted April 8, 2012 Recently I've noticed that from time to time if I launch Arma 2 Combined operations, the sound doesn't work. It's just mute. I just had the problem again, it started off with noise, but in the next cti-game (on a public server) the sound was just gone. I've restarted the game up again 5 times in a row and it still doesn't work.
larsiano 12 Posted April 11, 2012 So all sound is completly gone? Have you checked Windows volume control? Or maybe you can delete your A2+OA user folders from 'Documents' and see if it helps?
dekster 1 Posted September 10, 2012 Recently the problem hapened again, 2 times. Only solution was to restart my computer. Sounds works "outside" the game, not in.
larsiano 12 Posted September 10, 2012 Maybe you could give a better description of the problem specifics like: What OS (32 or 64bit?) = What audio card/chip? onboard or not = what sound driver = What ArmA2 version (A2,OA,CO,RE,X) The in-game stops during use or before start? What has changed sind the last time it has worked? My guess is that you are using an onbard sound chip and both have speakers and a headset connected that you sometimes switch using the speaker settings? The rule on this is that the game will bind to the selected source at startup. Just make sure that you have the right one selected. 1 try changing the sound options (max.samples etc.) in sound options 2 try resetting your player profile by removing it from the documents folder (dont trow it away yet) 3 try changing the sound options If this won't work then: 1 try installing the latest sound driver for your chip/card 2 try resetting your player profile 3 try changing the sound options 4 reinstall the ArmA2 patch If all this doesn't help idd start thinking about reinstalling of the game or even the OS itself! dekster 1 Posted September 11, 2012 I'm quite a noob on this, but all the specs of my laptop can be found here. (it's in dutch, didn't find it in english, 'geheugen' means 'memory' and 'schijf' 'disk') http://www.laptopshop.be/product/79216/hp-pavilion-dv8-1000eb-azerty.html#product_specifications It says 64bit, I think I run arma in 32. Afaik everything (drivers) is up to date.
larsiano 12 Posted September 11, 2012 I'm Dutch too so that helps ;) But just givin me the specs wont help you and finding out what audiochip you have should be made crear in the list itself and therefore commom knowledge for you. As long as your not pluggin in an extra USB / PCIe soundcard your talking about 'onboard'. Have you tried al the suggested solutions? These steps should be easie enuigh to follow and could help you. Without feedback on what you done and if it had any effect the help will be a waste of time. If the previous suggestions don't work you can try to update your chipset software: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=2954 and if that doesnt work and if it has ever worked without problems before you could (after backup) reset the hole laptop to factory defaults making sure no software issue hit you along the way. dekster 1 Posted September 14, 2012 Have you tried al the suggested solutions? "Problem" is if the sound only got away twice or trice over a period of 2 months, how will I ever know the solution worked? Resetting my player profile is something I've done allready since windows explorer crashed when I tried to click on my files.
