Flogger23m 2 Posted February 16, 2012 For whatever reason I can no longer seem to set basic triggers. Either that or I have forgotten how to. I am using ACE 2 (should be the latest version, updated a week or so ago). Here is I am trying to do: I am setting up a hostage rescue scenario. I have two friendly (Independent) units surrounded by a few OPFOR units which are not to shoot until an enemy gets close, which is occurs when an independent unit sets within the radius of a trigger. Seems simple enough, though I can't seem to make it work. This is what I have done: 1) Set a few OPFOR to "Never Fire" under waypoint 1. 2) Created a waypoint 2 for said units. Under waypoint 2 I change their combat mode to "Hold fire, engage at will". 3) Create a trigger which is activated by an Independent unit moving inside of the radius. 4) Synchronize OPFOR waypoint 2 to the trigger. Doing the steps above I assumed the OPFOR units would not change their combat mode until an Independent unit stepped inside of the trigger radius, which would trigger them to enact waypoint 2. However this is not the case. The OPFOR units enact waypoint 2 no matter what, as if the trigger requiring an Independent unit to step inside of the trigger radius did not exist. I recall using these exact steps in the past to make units move to different positions and whatnot, so I am not sure what I am doing wrong? And no, there are no Independent units already inside of the trigger radius. Here are some screen shots of the mission: OPFOR Waypoint 2 synchronized to trigger: Trigger: Any help would be appreciated.
2nd ranger 282 Posted February 16, 2012 You've synched it to the wrong waypoint.
Flogger23m 2 Posted February 16, 2012 (edited) You've synched it to the wrong waypoint. Looks like I had the wrong waypoint open when I took the screen shot, but if you look waypoint 2 is the one that is synced. I just deleted it and re-added waypoint 2, synced it, but the unit still goes to WP2. While I am asking this question, how do I add in grenades (specifically M84 flashbangs)? I can addon weapons, magazines, and anti tank missiles to a soldiers loadout fine but what is the script/command line for grenades? 2nd ranger 282 Posted February 16, 2012 No, you've synched the wrong waypoint. You need to synch the first one. AI follow waypoints up until one that has a condition. When the condition is met, they move on to the next one. The second waypoint is the one you want them to follow after the condition has been met, right? Then you need to synch the first one. Like this? : If so, the unit stays at WP1 even if the independent unit (me) walks through the trigger. I've run through it a few times and the unit seems to sit at WP1 and doesn't move to WP2 or change his combat mode.
2nd ranger 282 Posted February 16, 2012 Well, I just tested it and it works. Is the player unit setcaptive?
Flogger23m 2 Posted February 17, 2012 Well, I just tested it and it works. Is the player unit setcaptive? I deleted the units, replaced them, and remade the trigger. It now works as intended. Now I have to a few other questions: 1) The independent units in the sandbags are set to hold at WP1. However, they constantly try and run away. Hence why I placed the sand bags. I am assuming they are running away because OPFOR units (enemies) are close by, regardless if they are set to never fire. Is there a way to make them stay still in the presence of enemy units? 2) What is the script for adding grenades to a units loadout? If I can get them to stay still I will try and make a join waypoint for the two Independents in the sand bags. After I clear the camp out, I would like to escort them to an extraction point. Archosaurusrev 12 Posted February 17, 2012 Ok, sorry to be offtopic but HOW did you get square triggers? I can't find an answer anywhere.
Flogger23m 2 Posted February 17, 2012 Ok, sorry to be offtopic but HOW did you get square triggers?I can't find an answer anywhere. When placing a trigger by the heading and radius size there will be an option to set a rectangle or ellipse.
