mr_centipede 31 Posted January 10, 2012 I did some mission last night experimenting some lines of codes and I found that 10 groups of a single AI with dismiss wp can wreck havoc on me than a single group of 10 AIs. I found that the 1grp/1AI setting can be unnerving because you dont know where the AI were when that single shot just pass your head... so you tend to lie down more a scan the treelines. Just trying to stand up and walk forward can actually kill you. Quite an experience... With the 1grp/10 Ai setup, once a firefight starts, you generally know where they are because of that large volume of fire. and friendly AI firing back. and also the fact the enemy AI commander will issue engage order and some way or the other the enemy will come to your sight picture. Next I'll try 1grp/1 AI with guard WP. Maybe it'll be more interesting. Anyway, here is that line of code that I put on the group leader: { [_x] joinSilent grpNull; _wp=(group _x) addWaypoint [getPos _x,500]; _wp setWaypointType "DISMISS"; }forEach units this;
maturin 12 Posted January 10, 2012 Are you talking about using single AI units? But then why would you need code? What's a dismiss waypoint? Because AI on their own are dumb as a load of bricks. Without buddies, they have no one to augment their situational awareness, and most of all, will almost never take cover or flank. One man on his own can't lay down covering fire for someone else. mr_centipede 31 Posted January 10, 2012 because I dont want to put 10 single Ai 10 times... so I just put 1 group and seperate them into single AI...
[frl]myke 14 Posted January 11, 2012 AFAIK the "Dismiss" WP doesn't break the group but just let the group member do "it's own thing" but they stay linked together. So once one AI does know about you, the rest of the group will know aswell, regardless where they are and what they do. I even think they try to stick together and regroup to fight known enemies. And they will use their actual positions relative to enemies to their advantage, say for flanking maneuvres.
