NewGer 1 Posted December 30, 2011 Hello everyone. I´ve just bought ToH today and I´m fairly impressed. (Being a professional helicopter pilot myself I think I now what I´m talking about) However: The game crashes every half hour or so. Or better: the graphics driver does. At least that is what Vista (32bit, all patches) tells me. It is subsequently restored, but the graphics do not come back. The game keeps running, though. NVidia GeForce 9800 GTX+, Driver: Date: 20.05.2011, Version: 8.17.12.7533 I´ve scanned this forum but couldn´t find this graphics card being reported yet. I customised the graphics setting, everything to normal or low. Thanks for your help, Thomas Germany edit: box version, both patches installed before first launch. barra733 1 Posted December 30, 2011 With a Nvidia 8800GT on a vista 32 bit - fully patched, running the Steam version:(. A quick fix is to press 'left shift' and 'num pad minus' together, then type 'flush' and press 'enter'. This should then reload the game at the point where you lost it. I know this isn't ideal and a released game shouldn't do this but I think a future patch may address this issue.
NewGer 1 Posted December 30, 2011 Thanks for that tip, I´ll try that next time!
b101_uk 10 Posted December 30, 2011 you could try going to your "my documents" folder, in there is a Take On Helicopters folder, in that folder is "TakeOnH.cfg" which can be opened with notepad (right click then open with > notepad) in the .cfg file is the line "AToC=7;" which can be changed to "AToC=0;" which changes the type of AAA used for difrent things like trees, grass etc some people find "AToC=0;" works better with older graphics hardware and stops the need to flush, though "AToC=1;" will at lest do the grass etc which looks better for it while with trees its not worth it. see http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/takeonh.cfg setting not available in UI, Level of Alpha To Coverage Anti-Aliasing[1] (7=all enabled(default) or 0=disabled (normal AA prior AToC)) 0 - disabled 1 - AToC on grass 2 - AToC on new OA trees (takistan, zargabad, proving ground, shapur) 4 - AToC on old A2 trees (utes, chernarus) // combined 3 - AToC on grass & OA trees 5 - AToC on A2 trees + grass 6 - AToC on A2 + OA trees 7 - AToC enabled on grass, A2 & OA trees (default) More detailed description by a community member. NOTE: AToC is inactive if Anti-Aliasing is disabled in advanced video options!
Emerican 1 Posted December 31, 2011 Make sure that you have installed the latest version of graphic card drivers on the computer and also you can ask the developer of the game for further help.....
NewGer 1 Posted January 1, 2012 For whatever reason "flushing" didn´t work?
NewGer 1 Posted January 1, 2012 Confirmed, "flush" does not work on my german box version. Those crashes are becoming increasingly annoying, is there any update on the way? I´ll try to set the AToC to something else, but surely this cannot a proper solution?
DnA 5143 Posted January 2, 2012 Have you tried playing with the video memory setting? Perhaps Default will run it better.
NewGer 1 Posted January 2, 2012 I´ll try that, thanks. Looks like with the AToC=1 it´ll work. At least it did last time. Thanks so far for your help.
