DRa1N 0 Posted June 7, 2002 Hi, It seems every new model I try in the game seems to come out all funny. This is becoming a real pain in the ass because I don't know if I'll be able use any knew ones ever again!
Mister Frag 0 Posted June 7, 2002 Can you be more specific regarding the model(s) you have tried, and what the symptoms are? Also, what video card and driver do you have -- you wouldn't happen to have an ATI Radeon which supports TrueForm, do you?
DRa1N 0 Posted June 7, 2002 All the Hueys and the F-16 Falcon The only one that works is the hawk, and even then I can't see its wheels. Specs are k-62 533mhz 128 ram tnt2m64 pci 32mb drivers say 4.13.01.2832
Mister Frag 0 Posted June 7, 2002 DRa1N. it could well be that you are running out of system memory, especially if you have a bunch of .PBOs in your Addons folder. 256MB of RAM is the minimum amount of system memory you should have to play OFP in an enjoyable manner, and that's before adding Addons or trying to go online. Make sure that your virtual memory settings allow at least 512MB of swap space, and if you are running in a 16-bit color mode, try going to 32-bit color to see if that fixes the problems with missing textures. Is there any way that you can post a picture of what the Huey models look like on your system? If you press the 'Print Screen' key in OFP, Windows will place a copy of the screen on the clipboard, which you can then edit and save to disk using your favorite image editor or Paintbrush. You'd have to upload the file to the Web, and then you can reference it using a URL from inside an IMG tag in a forum message.
Mister Frag 0 Posted June 8, 2002 The link didn't work in your message, but I pasted the URL into my browser, and that did the trick. Anyway, it looks like you are running with a really low visual quality setting, a target framerate that is too high, or the LOD bias in your video card driver is too high. Not only are the Huey models screwed up, but the Blackhawk looks awful, too. Try going into the Video Options dialog, and setting the framerate to the minimum, and the visual quality to the maximum. The game may not necessarily be playable with those settings, but all we want to see at this point is whether this affects the models in the game. Also, download RivaTuner or NVMax and set the LOD bias to a negative number, like -1.5.

I think the needs to set the set the visual options in OFpreferences to maximum. Including, but not limited to, the "objects lod". btw, many "p3d mods" only have a modified LOD-1, the other lods are unchanged. So in LOD-1 you might see a Huey, but the other lods still show the UH-60.
DRa1N 0 Posted June 9, 2002 None of those seem to work, the models are still fucked. BTW, the chopper in the for ground is acutally ment to be a Huey, not a blackhawk.
ALDEGA 0 Posted June 10, 2002 So, did you put the framerate option to the lowest value? Did you set the object lod all the way to the right side? </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">ATI Radeon which supports TrueFormâ„¢<span id='postcolor'> I don't think BIS ever implemented TrueForm in OF. They said that if it was really that easy to implement as ATI claims, they would consider it. Haven't heard anything since then
DRa1N 0 Posted June 11, 2002 Yeah, I tried that, still no luck How do I set my object LOD? Through NVMAX?
Mister Frag 0 Posted June 11, 2002 Both NVMax and RivaTuner (as well as a number of other NVIDIA tweakers) let you set the LOD.
DRa1N 0 Posted June 11, 2002 Setting the object LOD to the right seem to set things straight... Thanks all. P.S, what exactly is the object LOD?
