ADuke 1 Posted December 12, 2011 Hi, In a new model I am making I am getting the error "Cannot Open Object" when I place the model into a mission. The model appears regardless of the error and everything works just fine. The only changes that I had made prior to this error appearing were some texture edits, not a big thing, just added shading to the texture and converted from tga to paa as usual. What is strange about this error is that it doesn't reference any particular model name, even in the .rpt there isn't any more information, it just says "Cannot Open Object". Any help with this issue is appreciated. -AD

PuFu 4600 Posted December 12, 2011 also, let buldozer convert those tga's to paa rather than doing it manually..i had issues with texview converted .paas before. anyhow, i believe the problem might be indeed what drunken officer said: to many points, or too many hard smooth groups (increasing the vert normals)
ADuke 1 Posted December 12, 2011 also, let buldozer convert those tga's to paa rather than doing it manually..i had issues with texview converted .paas before.anyhow, i believe the problem might be indeed what drunken officer said: to many points, or too many hard smooth groups (increasing the vert normals) OK, well that worked.... I had assumed that the problem was primarily in my View-Pilot LOD as there were points/faces within that LOD that did not need to be there. So I fixed it in a few steps... 1. Made all edges smooth within Pilot LOD. 2. Selected isolated points and removed them (a difficult task as some of these were axis' for the gauges). 3. Removed faces that the Pilot/gunners/cargo would not be able to see. So it's fixed, thanks for your help, I just wish that the error message would have been more specific as to why the object would not load, yet loaded it anyway. -AD
